As announced, Apple has enabled users of its devices to make repairs themselves. There are, however, a few limitations.
Apple's self-repair program has started, but for now it is only available in the United States. Already at the beginning, the manufacturer points out that the solution is available only to customers who have experience in the complexities of repairing electronic devices. For now, the range of devices and elements that can be repaired is limited, but it will certainly be gradually expanded. Currently, Apple customers can independently replace displays, batteries, cameras in the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE 3rd generation models. Apple will also release Mac repair packs at the end of the year.
Apple currently offers over 200 spare parts and tools needed to replace them. Tools can also be rented, and for the return of some used parts for recycling, the customer will get a discount on subsequent purchases at Apple. The order of parts and tools for repair is obligatorily associated with a specific device, the identifier of which must be entered when purchasing. The point is that the information should remain which elements of the device were replaced and that they were replaced with the original ones.
