Those who jumped for joy at the news of the arrival of the USB-C port in the iPhone - can sit down. And sigh with disappointment mixed with embarrassment. In fact, there's nothing to be happy about.

Under pressure from the European Union, Apple will finally standardize the socket in its smartphones. We will say goodbye to the specific Lightning port, but this does not mean that we will be able to use the iPhone with any accessories. According to recent reports the fact that The fact that Apple will install a standard-shaped socket in the iPhone does not mean that it will allow the use of any accessories. Apple is reportedly going to use special accessory authentication chips. They will be located in the phone itself as well as in the plugs of the wires. Of course, those approved by Apple - that is, appropriately more expensive than ordinary ones. Everything, of course, for the sake of quality and protection of the phone against damage due to the use of the wrong accessory. In other words - used USB-C in the iPhone, but not necessarily convenient and cheap.

It is not known whether the authentication chips will be found in other Apple devices that will also be equipped with USB-C. Currently produced Macs and iPads do not have such security - but since they are to be found in the iPhone, they will probably also go to other Apple devices. This is not the only unpleasant surprise that Apple has in store for us with the introduction of USB-C to the iPhone. To make it more fun, the ports will have a limited data transfer speed. It will remain at USB 2.0 on base iPhone models and USB 3.2 on Pro models.
