After the vague announcement of Honor Magic 5 Pro, it's time for specifics - on the occasion of the fair, Honor presented the specifications, prices and release date of the new flagships.
How does the Honor Magic 5 Pro take photos?
The successor to Honor Magic4 Pro is perfect proof that megapixels are not everything - the Honor Magic 5 is again dominated by 50 Mpx lenses, but the new model will be able to take much better exposed photos thanks to the differences in camera sizes and apertures.
The main lens is now 1/1.12 inch with f/1.6 aperture, while offering optical image stabilization. It is therefore a great step forward compared to the main camera of its predecessor - 1/1.56-inch with f/1.8 aperture and no OIS. The second camera, offering a 122° angle of view, has changed less, but also collects more light than the previous wide-angle camera, thanks to the new f/2.0 aperture. The new periscope telephoto lens, the Sony IMX858, offers slightly fewer megapixels (50 Mpx instead of 64 Mpx), but in return it also offers a brighter f/3.0 aperture, and a better quality 100x digital zoom achieved with the help of Ultra Fusion Computational Optics. There was also a 3.5x optical zoom.
The telephoto lens is additionally supported by advanced software features and a set of sensors - a 3D ToF laser that maintains sharpness, a multi-range color temperature sensor and a flicker sensor. Movies can be recorded in 4K resolution at 60 FPS, in HDR 10+ or Magic-Log 10-bit format, and IMAX Enhanced Movie Master will help with their editing. In addition, there is a front camera, just like its predecessor - 12 Mpx with f/2.4 aperture and an additional depth sensor, allowing for safer face unlocking by recognizing its three-dimensional shape.

In addition to the photographic changes, the Honor Magic5 Pro also offers typical this year's flagship novelties - Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and Android 13 operating system with MagicUI 7.1 overlay. The change in the battery is more interesting - its capacity has grown from 4800 mAh to 5100 mAh, and it can be charged with 66 W or 50 W wirelessly. It is worth noting that we will receive the appropriate charger in the box with the phone. In addition, Honor has several technological novelties up its sleeve - the Discrete Display Chipset improves the number of frames per second in games and enhances movies with the help of HDR, and the Discrete Security Chipset created in cooperation with Qualcomm safely stores passwords and biometric data.
The change will also be noticeable in terms of the screen - seemingly similar to its predecessor, because 6.81-inch with a resolution of 1312 x 2848 px and 120 Hz refresh rate, but offering much higher brightness - 1800 instead of 1000 nits.
New Honor Magic 5 Specifications
Big changes can also be seen in the standard model. Honor Magic5 has a 50MP 1/1.49-inch main camera, a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 32MP telephoto lens. It is not inferior to the Pro model in terms of processor, battery capacity and 66 W fast charging - only wireless charging was missing. Compared to its predecessors, it is also distinguished by its 1600-nit screen brightness.
New Honor smartphones will debut in the second quarter of 2023. The standard Honor Magic 5 will be available in black and blue color variants, at a price of €900. Honor Magic 5 Pro will additionally get a green, purple and orange variant, and its price will be € 1,200. Nothing is known about the potential Honor Magic 5 Ultimate model.
