OnePlus is one of the few that does not yet have a device with a foldable screen in its portfolio. This is about to change with the upcoming announcement of the OnePlus Fold or OnePlus Open, which has been speculated recently. The official name of the device is still a mystery, but it is expected to debut in August at a special event in New York.
From what is known, the OnePlus Fold will have an external foldable design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Vivo X Fold 2. A recent series of CAD renders shared by OnLeaks show a tall external display and a larger internal panel. The latest photos of the foldable phone resemble the scheme of the yet-to-be-announced Oppo Find N3, which is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market while the OnePlus Fold will be available internationally.

The leaks also reveal a camera cutout inspired by the OnePlus 11 on the back of the device with the Hasselblad logo and three sensors. OnePlus Fold has slim metal sides and a leather-like texture on the back. The sides also have a built-in fingerprint reader in the power button and the fan-favorite alert slider on the left side. OnePlus Fold will be equipped with a 6.3-inch AMOLED screen on the front with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It is possible that the external panel will have a front camera with a resolution of 20 Mpx placed in a central punch-hole.

The main OnePlus Fold display with a diagonal of 7.8 inches is likely to be made in LTPO AMOLED technology and has a resolution of 1,900 x 2,100 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Based on the renders, it is known that it will also have a punch-hole in the upper left corner, which will house a 32 Mpx camera. The smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which will work with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory.

The OnePlus Fold is rumored to feature a 50MP main camera (IMX890) and a 48MP wide-angle camera (IMX581) - the same sensors found on the OnePlus 11. Our review showed that this camera setup performs well enough. The third module on the back of OnePlus Fold should be a telephoto lens with a resolution of 64 Mpx. As far as we know, the smartphone will be equipped with a 4800 mAh battery and support for 67 W charging, which is slightly smaller than the 5000 mAh battery in the OnePlus 11 model. In the software department, it is expected to use OxygenOS 13.1 based on Android 13, but it remains to be discovered how OnePlus plans to add more features for the larger screen.

Prices and availability are the two biggest question marks about the new OnePlus foldable. There have been no specific leaks on this yet. Considering this is a flagship-level device with a spec level similar to the Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold, you'd expect the price to be somewhere between $1,500 and $1,800, similar to those models. The OnePlus Fold is likely to launch first in the US and Europe, and then expect to expand to other regions as well.
