Smartphones with foldable screens are not as delicate as you might think. This has already been proven by the durability tests of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Will Motorola's new clamshell smartphone match Samsung's foldables?
Zack from the popular channel JerryRigEverything can already answer this question. It seems that the foldable Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (known in the US as Motorola Razr Plus) is as durable as classic smartphones, and in some situations even surpasses them. Its external display showed good scratch resistance and survived an arson attack for 20 seconds, and when the phone was bent it cracked but still functioned properly. Buttons with a built-in fingerprint reader also did not stop working properly, even after noticeable scratches.
The flexible internal display, despite the protective film, coped much worse with scratches and high temperature, but it withstood the break test very well. The screen and hinge also proved their IP52 dustproofness, showing that even using the phone contrary to the manufacturer's recommendations, i.e. closing the screen soiled with sand, will not always end tragically. In the end, the Razr 40 Ultra showed that in terms of reliability it is much closer to Samsung than to Google Pixel Fold.
