A few months ago, the flagship smartphone Sony Xperia 1 V went on sale, and now it's time for the successor Sony Xperia 5 IV... with fewer cameras! What else has changed?
The new model rewards us with the reduction of cameras with quality. The main module is the same as in Xperia 1 V - 1/1.35-inch with a resolution of 52 Mpx. By default, it takes 12 Mpx photos with a 24 mm focal length, and with a 2x zoom it will offer better light gathering than the telephoto lens of the previous model. Besides, there are no surprises - the second camera is a 1/2.5-inch 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle module, and the front meets the trends with a 12 Mpx selfie camera on a thick upper frame.
Sony's tendency to do things its way, as usual, translated into several advantages rare among flagships - the smartphone is quite compact compared to the competition, with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, there is also a 3.5 mm minijack socket, and 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal memory can be expanded with a microSD card.
Apart from a big change in the cameras, the new model looks similar to its predecessor. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and allows charging at 33 W, but this time it can last longer thanks to the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The device's display is still OLED with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate.
Sony Xperia 5 V will go on sale in the second half of September, and its price will be 999 €.
