Honor continues its campaign to improve its presence in the smartphone market since splitting from Huawei. The mid-market segment is crucial for brands looking for success. For this reason, the company is preparing to launch a competitive smartphone called Honor X9b.
The phone will be a direct successor to Honor X9a model, which was presented in January this year. The new version has appeared on Honor's Malaysian website, showcasing the back of the device. The photo shows a round, disc-shaped camera module, which is one of my all-time favorite designs.
In fact, the design is very reminiscent of Honor X9a. The predecessor has the same circular camera module, although in the case of the X9b the phone seems to be slightly thicker and more protruding. The color is also an obvious change. The device will feature vegan leather in at least one of its versions. It presents an interesting design adapted to the mid-price segment. It will certainly compete with rivals that stick to more traditional design choices.

In the leaked photos we can also see part of the display. The actual photo shows a curved-edge screen with a central hole for the selfie camera. Honor X9b could be a rebranded model of Honor X50, which has been available in China since July. The reason for this is that the X9b was spotted with the same chip, amount of RAM, and Android version as the X50 on the Geekbench benchmark.
The phone is scheduled to be launched soon, so we can expect more leaks to appear in the near future. It is possible that the smartphone will be launched first in the Malaysian market, but other markets in the region should also receive it. Honor X9b should be an interesting offering that will expand the brand's presence in the competitive mid-range category.
