Apple has decided to add a more affordable variant of the Apple Pencil tablet stylus to its offer. The new model is slightly cheaper than the previously available Apple styluses - but is not significantly inferior to more expensive models.
The new Apple Pencil with USB-C differs from the others by the lack of inductive charging and wireless connectivity. Pairing and charging is provided by the USB-C port hidden under the sliding cap. There is no option for engraving on the housing or changing "tools" with a double-click. The stylus does not detect pressure - but it provides all the other functions of previously known models - including magnetic attachment to the tablet. The precision of the stylus is to be the same as the other two models, and it also provides tilt detection, useful, for example, when shading in a drawing. The stylus also supports proximity gestures and has low latency. Apple Pencil with USB-C works with iPad (10th generation), as well as all iPad models with a USB-C port, including iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini. The new Apple Pencil will be available for purchase separately for €95 in early November. For comparison, the earlier models, Apple Pencil 1st and 2nd generation, are offered for - €119 and €149 respectively.
