Realme GT5 Pro - the great return of gestures

photo: Realme

The new Realme GT5 Pro premiered in China. This is a flagship smartphone, distinguished by the somewhat forgotten gesture control function.

Realme GT5 Pro may attract attention with its strong specifications and decent cameras. However, every high-end smartphone currently has this. That's why Realme decided to refresh the ideas from years ago and equipped the smartphone with the AI gesture control system. This is a set of twelve gestures that can be used to operate the device. There is a video on the Internet that presents them:

In addition to the gestures shown, the smartphone has a hand recognition function (tested once by LG). To unlock the phone, just hold your hand over the screen for a moment. You don't have to touch the reader or look at the camera... These are specific curiosities, but it's still good. Realme GT5 Pro has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, LPDDR5x and UFS 4.0 memory and an OLED display with a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits, and a typical - 1600 nits.

The screen has a diagonal of 6.78 inches, a resolution of 1.5K and an image refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Power is provided by a 5,400 mAh battery with 100-watt wired and 50-watt inductive charging. In the photographic part, we find the recently popular 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 module with a 1/1.4-inch matrix and f/1.69 aperture. We are also pleased with the presence of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 camera with a periscope telephoto lens with 3x zoom (65 mm) and f/2.6 aperture. Next to it there is a classic 8-megapixel IMX355 wide-angle camera, and the set is complemented by a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Of course, the system is Android 14 with the Realme UI 5.0 interface. The manufacturer promises 3 system updates and 4 years of security support. The equipment is complemented by, among others: stereo speakers, infrared transmitter, under-screen fingerprint reader and IP64 tightness.

Realme GT5 Pro is offered in three colours, in the following versions and prices:

  • 12+256 GB - 3399 yuan, USD 479
  • 16+512 GB - 3999 yuan, USD 563
  • 16GB + 1TB - 4,299 yuan, USD 605
At the beginning, prices were slightly reduced - but for now there is no information about the sale of the new smartphone outside China.
