ASUS is one of the smaller players in the smartphone market, but it does well in its niches. Subsequent smartphone models of this brand usually do not differ much from their predecessors... and what will it be like now?
ROG Phone 8 - a flagship for everyone?
The future of the successors of ASUS ROG Phone 7 and ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimateseemed to be easy to predict. The recent appearance of ROG Phone 8 Ultimate on Geekbench confirmed that we will be dealing with a performance-focused smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and the Android operating system 14. Now the official ROG Phone 8 announcement has revealed a bit more about the next generation... and it looks like that the changes may be greater than before.
The content of the announcement is very casual, but it says a lot - the slogan of the new model is "Beyond Gaming", which means it will be a smartphone not only for gamers. Looking at the render of ROG Phone 8 hidden in the shadow, it can be concluded that the styling of the phone will also be slightly less gaming - we still have the characteristic diagonal line and the familiar shape of the camera island, but the whole thing looks more subdued. You can also see a larger main camera lens, which does not necessarily translate into better photographic capabilities, but would fit the idea of a flagship for many applications. It is not yet known whether ROG Phone 8 Ultimate will follow the same path...
Zenfone 11 returns in an unusual form
There are many gaming smartphones, but the compact ASUS Zenfone flagship is a real unique. So I'm glad that the reports about Zenfone 10 being the last model in this series were quickly denied... and now we have solid proof of the existence of the new generation. Bluetooth SIG certification has just revealed the names of many upcoming ASUS smartphone models, including ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 in several variants... as well as a device called "Zenfone 11 Ultra".
The certificate database does not reveal many details of the mysterious new model - it is known that it will have support for Bluetooth 5.4 and probably a processor from Qualcomm - it can be expected that it is Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In addition to the processor of the new Zenfone, it shares with the ROG Phone a very similar serial number (ASUS_AI2401_H, differing only by one letter from the others), as well as their simultaneous appearance in the database. Therefore, it is possible that Zenfone 11 Ultra will be a clone of ROG Phone 8, which, according to the above information, may be less gaming... we can only hope that we will see the basic model of Zenfone 11, and this model will not give up its extremely handy size.
