Samsung today officially presented its flagship smartphones this year. Will Samsung Galaxy S24, Samsung Galaxy S24+ and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra turn out to be hits?

Samsung consistently promotes familiar styling, perhaps in accordance with the principle that what is good should not be forced to be improved. The new models, of course, have a slightly refreshed look and new colors, but they look similar to the versions from the previous generation. The most serious and easily noticeable change is the flattening of the screen in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra model. By removing the roundings on the sides, the display will be more practical for use with a stylus. In addition, smartphones have gained a new cut of sides, as well as narrower display frames, which allowed to slightly increase the diagonals of the working parts of the screens. These changes will probably be assessed positively, which cannot be said about the change in processors. This year, Samsung returned to differentiating the systems depending on the market - and thanks to this, in Europe, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24+ will receive Exynos 2400 processors, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will only go to the top Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung boasted a new, advanced cooling system, so you can probably give the new Exynos the benefit of the doubt in terms of heating and throttling. Not all potential buyers will be satisfied with the battery charging rate of the new Galaxy S. It will remain at the current level of 25 or 45 W, depending on the model.

A change for the better is the resolution of the 6.7-inch screen in the Galaxy S24+ model. The display works in QHD+, the same 6.8-inch display in the Galaxy S24 Ultra model. Full HD+ retained only the 6.2-inch screen of the base, smallest Galaxy S24. All screens are Dynamic AMOLED 2X matrices, refreshing the image with dynamically selected frequencies in the range of 1-120 Hz and brightness reaching a peak of 2,600 nits, and typically 1,500 nits. Along with the dimensions of smartphones, the capacity of their batteries also varies, being 4000, 4900 and 5000 mAh. All three models have the same 12-megapixel selfie cameras, with a 1/3.2-inch matrix, f/2.2 aperture and 80-degree field of view. The rear cameras are also common among the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung models Galaxy S24+. The main matrix has 50 megapixels, optical image stabilization, f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.56 inch size and a field of view of 85 degrees. The camera with a telephoto lens offers a 3x zoom (2x lossless), a 10-megapixel 1/3.94-inch matrix, a 36-degree field of view, an f/2.4 aperture and OIS stabilization. The third camera is wide-angle, with a 120-degree field of view, f/2.2 aperture and a 12-megapixel 1/2.55-inch matrix. However, in Galaxy S24 Ultra we have a completely different set of four cameras. The main one has 200 megapixels, optical stabilization, a 1/1.3-inch matrix with an f/1.7 aperture and a field of view of 85 degrees. The wide-angle camera is the same as in the two smaller models, as is the camera with a classic telephoto lens, which serves more as a portrait camera. The true telephoto camera is a 50-megapixel camera with a periscope telephoto lens with 10x zoom (5x lossless), f/3.4 aperture, 22-degree field of view and 1/2.51-inch matrix size. Of course, the cameras have been equipped with improved digital zoom and AI effects. They allow, among others, correct frame curves without narrowing them, remove unwanted elements from photos, and move captured elements in the frame, as well as use intelligent image editing suggestions in the gallery.

However, what is most important in the new Galaxy S is not obvious at first glance. We're talking about Galaxy AI, which is a comprehensive package of intelligent functions. These include, for example, intelligent search for objects on the Internet based on what we circle on the screen. In addition, there are the previously mentioned image editing options, as well as the ability to convert previously recorded videos at normal speed into slow motion. The option of transcribing voice notes into text, as well as automatically generating summaries of websites or any other texts, will also be very useful. The AI Translator function is equally interesting. It allows you to translate not only chats, but also voice telephone conversations. Security is equally important: the functions described are implemented only in the device, they can work offline, and they do not require sending data to external servers. You can do this - but you can also turn off the exchange of data used by Galaxy AI features. Artificial intelligence will also correct text entered by hand with a stylus, and even translate it into typed text, with the option of splitting and adding headings and a note cover. The icing on the cake is the ability to generate wallpapers and the appearance of the Always On Display screen.

The Galaxy S24 series smartphones will be offered in black, grey, purple and yellow, and there will also be exclusive colour options available only on the Samsung store. Globally, Galaxy S24 will be offered with 8+128 and 8+256 GB memories, and Galaxy S24+ - 12+256 and 12+512 GB. The top Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in versions 12+256 and 12+512 GB as well as 12 GB and 1 TB. Galaxy S24 will cost $799 for the 8+128 GB version and $859 for the 8+256 GB version. Galaxy S24+ was valued at $999 for the 12+256 GB model and $1,119 for the 12+512 GB variant. Galaxy S24 Ultra costs $1,299 for the 12+256 GB version, $1,419 for 12+512 GB and $1,659 for the top edition 12 GB + 1 TB. There will be a pre-sale from January 17 to 30, during which the model with higher memory will be offered at the price of the version with smaller memory. In addition, free Galaxy Buds 2 headphones will be added to the first purchasers (until January 23).
