Over the last few months, Dimensity 9300 has unexpectedly conquered the ranking of the most efficient smartphones, and now Qualcomm is striking back, introducing a processor that has a chance to conquer the semi-flagship sector.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is a processor with an inconspicuous name, but impressive specifications - it uses the same cores as the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, although with a slightly lower clock frequency. The main role is played by the Cortex X4 core clocked at 2.8 GHz, accompanied by four Cortex A720 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and three Cortex A520 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. The whole thing is made in 4 nm architecture and offers 15% better CPU performance and 45% better Adreno graphics performance, as well as 5% lower energy consumption.
In line with the latest trends, the new processor also has built-in AI capabilities as the first in the Snapdragon 7 series, which will allow for effective text and image generation with models such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano and Zhipu ChatGLM.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is also equipped with the Snapdragon X63 5G modem with the FastConnect 7800 mobile communication system and 3GPP Release 17 5G, and its data download speed reaches 4.2 Gbps. Smartphones with the new Snapdragon can have 4K displays with 60 Hz refresh rate or QHD+ with 120 Hz refresh rate, with support for smooth refresh rate change from 1 to 240 Hz. Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 will also support up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 internal memory.
The new processor will be used first by OnePlus, Realme and Sharp smartphones. The first of them, OnePlus Ace 3V, has already had its official debut.
