Motorola Razr 50 and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra surprise with details!

Motorola today introduced striking, clamshell smartphones Motorola Razr 50 and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. Although they seem to resemble last year's Razr, they bring a lot of new features!

Motorola Razr 50

Motorola Razr 50 has changed beyond recognition. It received an external screen of a size that a year ago overwhelmed the flip-flop segment. This year, the base model has a 3.6-inch pOLED screen on the outside, a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels, 10-bit colors, a brightness of 1,700 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. On the inside, less has changed - we have another pOLED, with a diagonal of 6.9 inches, Full HD+ resolution, brightness up to 3000 nits and 120 Hz refreshment. The heart of the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor, supported by 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 or 512 GB of UFS 2.2 internal memory. Power is provided by a 4200 mAh battery with 30-watt wired charging and 15-watt induction. The smartphone is also equipped with a 32-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.4, 0.7μm). On the back there is a main camera with a 50 Mpx matrix (f/1.7, 0.8μm) and optical image stabilization, as well as a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.2, 1.12μm) with a macro function and a 120-degree field of view. The housing is made of made of aluminum, vegan leather and Gorilla Glass Victus glass. It protects against moisture at the IPx8 level and is available in the following colors: Koala Gray, Beach Sand, Spritz Orange. The global Motorola Razr 50/Motorola Razr (2024) is available in Beach Sand, Koala Grey, and Spritz Orange. It will open for pre-order on July 10, starting from $700, and will ship on July 24. Buyers in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific will be able to buy it at some point, price pending.

Motorola Razr 50 Ultra

Motorola Razr 50 Ultra received the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor and 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 memory. The main, foldable pOLED display achieves a brightness of 3000 nits, has a diagonal of 6.9 inches, Full HD+ resolution and 165 Hz refreshment. This year's Ultra has an even larger secondary screen than last year. It is a 4-inch pOLED with a resolution of 1272 x 1080 pixels, refresh rate up to 165 Hz and brightness of 2400 nits. Two 50-megapixel cameras are placed in the holes of this screen. Main, with optical stabilization, f/1.7 aperture and 0.8 μm pixels, and portrait, with f/2.0 aperture, 0.64 μm pixels and 2x zoom. The device is powered by a 4000 mAh battery with 45-watt charging, and the set includes a case with a shoulder strap. This model is also waterproof and made of similar materials as the Razr 50 - but available in the following colours: Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, Hot Pink. The global Motorola Razr 50 Ultra/Motorola Razr+ (2024) is available in Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz and Hot Pink. It's on sale in Europe and select LATAM countries at €1,200 for the 12/512GB model. In the US, it will be available for pre-order on July 10 and on sale from July 24, priced $999. It's coming to Canada, priced at $1,300.

The smartphones also have stereo speakers, eSIM support, fingerprint readers, NFC and chargers included. In both models, the Android 14 system will receive three major Android OS updates and 4 years of support in the form of security patches (on a 2-month cycle). Both smartphones allow you to use Google Gemini artificial intelligence on the external screen. Motorola has also prepared numerous options for personalizing the external screen - from new clock faces, through creating your own screensaver, to generating individual screen wallpapers using the Style Sync function supported by Moto AI. In the coming months, moto ai will receive a number of new features:

  • Catch me up: will allow for priority summary of communications, eliminating the need to search through notifications;
  • Pay attention: allows you to quickly record conversations, also offering transcription and creating a summary;
  • Remember This: will record live and on-screen events information by creating notes with AI-generated details;
  • Additionally, in the case of more complex queries, Motorola smartphone users will be able to use Gemini Pro artificial intelligence services from Google.
