Oppo has just broken a record: it has presented the slimmest foldable smartphone ever. Where is the limit? Will the next foldable smartphones be as slim as Oppo Find N5?
Oppo Find N5 debuts as the successor to the Oppo Find N3. The model with the number 4 was omitted, because four is considered an unlucky number in Asia. That is why we have the Oppo Find N5, although it should really be called the Oppo Find N4.21. This is the thickness of the smartphone - 4.21 mm - when unfolded and 8.93 mm when closed, of course excluding the protruding - as always - camera frame. What has been packed into such a thin casing? First of all, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 memory with capacities of 12+512 GB, as well as a surprisingly capacious - for the size of a smartphone - two-part carbon-silicon battery with a total capacity of 5600 mAh, charging wired at 80 W, and inductively - 50 W.

The external screen Oppo Find N5 is 6.62 inches in size, has Full HD+ resolution, LTPO OLED technology and adaptive refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. The panel has an aspect ratio of 20.7: 9 and a brightness of up to 2450 nits. The internal, foldable display (also OLED with LTPO) has a diagonal of 8.12 inches, a resolution of 2480 x 2248 px and a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. The proportions of this screen are 9.9:9 (i.e. almost a square), and the brightness - up to 2100 nits. Both screens work with the Oppo Pen stylus offered separately. The use of a new hinge called Titanium Flexion Hinge allowed the dimensions of the mechanism to be reduced by 26%, and the weight of the entire smartphone was reduced to 229 g. The housing is waterproof in accordance with IPX6, IPX8 and IPX9 certificates.

The cameras are also not for show. The main one is a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 module with an f/1.8 aperture, while the next one is an 8-megapixel wide-angle module with an f/2.2 aperture and a 116-degree field of view. The whole is complemented by a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 camera with a periscopic telephoto lens with 3x zoom and an f/2.7 aperture. Interestingly, all three cameras have two-axis optical image stabilization. The smartphone is also equipped with, among other things, an infrared transmitter, eSIM and DualSIM on physical nanoSIM cards, stereo speakers and a fingerprint reader. The operating system is Android 15 with the ColorOS 15 interface and a promise of four version updates and 6 years of support for security patches. Oppo Find N5 will be available in colours called Cosmic Black, Misty White and Dusk Purple, with the latter only available in China. The smartphone is offered in Asia for the equivalent of 1,800 euros.
