8849, a brand previously known as Unihertz, has released another crazy smartphone. 8849 Tank 4 Pro is an armored smartphone with a projector and a large battery.

While testing the 8849 Tank 3 Pro I was impressed by the size, but also the capabilities of this smartphone. Is its successor just as interesting? Yes, although in many ways it turns out to be a bit less impressive. First of all, it has a smaller battery - with a capacity of "only" 11600 mAh. The predecessor had a larger one (over 20,000 mAh) - but the new model is slightly smaller (174.9x87x22.5 mm) and significantly lighter (530 g), and also offers 120W charging. It also has a better display - AMOLED, with a diagonal of 6.73 inches and a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The 8849 Tank 4 Pro also uses a newer processor - MediaTek Dimensity 8300 - giving it 16 + 512 GB or 18 GB + 1 TB of memory (UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5x), as well as a microSD card slot.

The new model also has - like its predecessor - a built-in 720p projector with a brightness of 100 lumens, as well as a powerful LED camping lamp. The smartphone is characterized by high durability and tightness, but unfortunately it has an outdated Android 14 operating system with a big unknown regarding updates. As a consolation - it has an additional menu with tools useful in an armored smartphone, e.g. a spirit level or noise meter. The device also has a mini-jack and a side fingerprint reader, as well as virtual RAM. The equipment is complemented by two 50-megapixel cameras (main and telephoto), a 64-megapixel night vision camera, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The price, depending on the memory variant, is 650 or 700 dollars.
