Apple today unveiled new smartphones in the iPhone 17 series... and something else. What's new in the world of iPhone?

This year's iPhone lineup has undergone a minor overhaul. The Plus model has disappeared, and in its place is the iPhone Air, with a slim, striking design. All iPhone models are premium, with an aluminum frame and a glass back. Of course, IP68 waterproofing and robust stereo speakers are also included. The iPhone 17 retains its distinctive front design, with screens with narrow bezels and rounded corners, and cutouts for the Dynamic Island notification system and Face ID facial recognition. We're already familiar with all of this; more new features are visible on the back. Aside from the completely new style of the Air, the other models have also undergone some changes, especially the Pro versions, which now feature larger camera islands and a section of the back panel connected to the side frame. The Air and Pro variants have the more powerful Apple A19 Pro processors, while the others have the entry-level Apple A19. This is also a new addition to Apple. Let's take a look at the new models one by one.

The iPhone Air, a complete newcomer to the range, features a slim 5.6mm chassis and a single 48-megapixel camera. The smartphone has a 6.5-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and an 18-megapixel selfie camera. This model debuts the Apple N1 chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, as well as the energy-efficient Apple C1X modem. The iPhone 17, on the other hand, has a 6.3-inch screen that finally has a 120Hz refresh rate while reaching up to 3000 nits of brightness. The smartphone also has a 24-megapixel selfie camera, a 48-megapixel main camera (f/2.2), and a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.2) with a 12-megapixel macro lens. The iPhone 17 Pro also has a 6.3-inch screen, but with three 48-megapixel rear cameras and a 24-megapixel front camera. The iPhone 17 Pro Max remains the largest, traditionally with a 6.9-inch screen and cameras similar to the Pro model.

The base and Air models are available with 256 or 512 GB of storage, while the Pro variants are available with 256 or 512 GB and 1 TB of storage. The Pro Max even has a 2 TB version. Apple traditionally doesn't disclose RAM capacity, but unofficially it's said that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air models have 8 GB each, while the Pro versions have 12 GB each. Similarly, Apple doesn't disclose battery capacity, so this information also comes from unofficial sources. The iPhone 17 Air has the smallest battery. Its battery in the eSIM-only variant has a minimum capacity of 3149 mAh, and in the version with a physical SIM card slot - 3036 mAh. The base iPhone 17 has a 3692 mAh battery, while the Pro version has either 3988 mAh or 4252 mAh, again depending on the presence of a SIM slot. The same applies to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which will feature 4832 or 5088 mAh batteries, depending on the presence of a physical SIM tray. However, this information is unofficial – I emphasize.

Time to look at the prices, of which there are plenty as usual:

  • iPhone Air 256GB - $999

Of course, Apple's new products aren't just smartphones. The company also unveiled new watch models – the Apple Watch 11, Apple Watch SE 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3. The Apple Watch 11 features more durable glass, 5G connectivity, live translations, and an AI trainer. Furthermore, the LTPO3 screen is brighter than the previous model, but can also reduce brightness to 1 nit in Night Mode. Of course, the watch measures your heart rate and blood pressure, and also has the option to analyze blood pressure trends to detect hypertension. You can choose from 42 or 46 mm sizes. Prices start at $400. The Apple Watch SE 3 is the next generation of Apple's budget smartwatch, enhanced with 5G and AI features. The watch also features new watch faces and improved temperature and sleep monitoring systems, including sleep apnea. The watch has a new S10 processor and an always-on display. The watch starts at $249.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 features a larger screen than its predecessor, featuring LTPO3 technology and a higher refresh rate in always-on display mode, as well as 5G and satellite connectivity. Its battery life, depending on use, is expected to last for 42-72 hours of operation, and the price of this model starts at $799. The new AirPods Pro 3 are IP57-rated and have a built-in heart rate sensor. They also feature an improved active noise cancellation system, four times more effective than the one found in the first-generation AirPods Pro. Furthermore, the headphones have a more powerful battery and a live translation function. These headphones are priced at $250.
