Apple today unveiled the new iPad Pro with the M5 processor. According to the company, it's "the most advanced iPad ever." So what does it have to offer?

The M5 chip, with its next-generation graphics chip and Neural Accelerators in every core, gives iPad Pro users a significant performance boost, whether working on advanced projects or using AI to boost productivity. The new iPad Pro delivers up to 3.5x faster AI performance than the iPad Pro with the M41 chip and up to 5.6x faster than the iPad Pro with the M1 chip. The new Apple N1 wireless chip enables support for the latest generation of wireless technologies on iPad Pro, including Wi-Fi 7. iPad Pro models with cellular connectivity are equipped for the first time with the C1X modem, which delivers up to 50 percent faster cellular data speeds. The new iPad Pro is designed with AI in mind, enabling faster performance of tasks like on-device image generation using diffusion models in apps like Draw Things and AI-powered video masking in DaVinci Resolve. The 16-core Neural Engine ensures energy efficiency for on-device AI tasks.

The iPad Pro boasts increased unified RAM bandwidth, faster read and write speeds, more unified RAM in the base model, and support for fast loading. With unified RAM bandwidth exceeding 150 GB/s—nearly 30 percent more than the previous generation—the new iPad Pro enables smoother performance in multiple apps simultaneously, faster AI model performance, faster gameplay in even the most demanding games, and much more. The new iPad Pro delivers 2x faster read and write speeds, and the 256GB and 512GB models now include a base 12GB of unified RAM—50 percent more than before. Additionally, iPad Pro supports Fast Charging, allowing you to charge the battery up to 50 percent in about 30 minutes using the optional Apple 40W (60W max) USB-C Power Adapter with dynamic power control. The iPad Pro is available in space black and silver, and in 11-inch and 13-inch models, with an Ultra Retina XDR display that uses tandem OLED technology for high brightness and contrast, along with technologies like ProMotion and True Tone. iPad Pro displays SDR and HDR content at 1000 nits across the entire screen, with a peak brightness of 1600 nits for HDR content. For professionals who perform tasks requiring color management or work in challenging lighting conditions, iPad Pro is available with a display featuring nano-texture glass to effectively reduce glare.

Accessories enhance the capabilities of iPad Pro. Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) give users two tools ideal for drawing, note-taking, annotating, and more. The slim and lightweight Magic Keyboard features a stand that lifts the display, a row of function keys, and an aluminum palm rest. iPad Pro is also compatible with the Smart Folio, which magnetically attaches to the iPad Pro and allows for flexible viewing angles. The 11-inch model is just 5.3mm thin, and the 13-inch model is even thinner at just 5.1mm. The new iPad Pro is available for pre-order starting today and will be available in stores on Wednesday, October 22nd. The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro with the M5 chip will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage configurations. The 11-inch model starts at $999, and the 13-inch Pro at $1,299.
