Nubia has introduced its first foldable Fold smartphone, as well as the next generation of the clamshell model – the Nubia Flip 3. Both devices debuted in Japan.
Nubia Fold is the first smartphone of this design in the Chinese brand's portfolio. The smartphone boasts flagship specifications, though not necessarily the highest specs. The Fold uses last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, supported by 12+256 GB of memory and – surprisingly – running the no-longer-new Android 15 system. Folded, the smartphone is 11.1 mm thick, and when unfolded, it measures 144 x 160 x 5.4 mm, weighing 249 g. The device has a 6.5-inch external screen with a resolution of 2748 x 1172 pixels and an 8-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. Both screens are OLED, with an image refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The equipment also includes two 20-megapixel selfie cameras and a set of three rear cameras. The main and wide-angle cameras are each 50 megapixels, and they are complemented by a 5-megapixel macro camera. The device is powered by a 6560 mAh battery with 55-watt charging, and the case is IP54-rated. The price of this model in Japan is 178,560 yen, or $1,145.

ZTE's new flip phone, the Nubia Flip 3, has a more attractive design this year thanks to a larger external display. This cover screen is 4 inches and has two camera cutouts. The main camera is 50 megapixels, and the wide-angle camera is 12 megapixels, complemented by a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the opposite side of the flip. In addition to the camera, opening the case reveals a 6.9-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Both screens are AMOLED. Power is provided by a 4610 mAh battery, and the 7.5 mm thick case offers IP54 water resistance when unfolded. Like the Fold, this model also features NFC and a side-mounted fingerprint reader, but unfortunately, it also runs Android 15. The Flip 3's price won't be revealed until January.
