The paper-like screen has become a hallmark of TCL smartphones. What exactly does the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro offer?
TCL isn't one to stick to one style, often changing the design of its smartphones from year to year. The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro, unveiled at CES 2026, while similar in specifications to previous models, looks completely different from the back – its camera island could be mistaken for the entry-level iPhone 17. The camera specs are, of course, slightly different, but better than your average iPhone clone – the 50MP main camera has optical stabilization and records 4K video at 30 FPS, the secondary rear camera is 8MP, and the punch-hole front camera houses a 32MP selfie camera.
The front also houses the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro's main selling point: a 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 900 nits of brightness. Instead of the high brightness offered by competitors, the screen, made with NxtPaper 4.0 technology, boasts other advantages, including seven eye-safe technologies and support for the T-Pen stylus. There's also a dedicated NxtPaper side button that toggles the display between the traditional Color Paper design, the monochromatic Ink Paper, and the more minimalist Max Ink.
Besides the unique screen, the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro is a typical mid-range smartphone. It features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 512 GB of internal storage expandable with a microSD card, and the Android 16 operating system. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual SIM, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and IP68 waterproofing.
The TCL NextPaper 70 Pro will be available globally in February 2026, in two color variants (Nebula Gold and Stellar Blue) and two memory options. The more modest 8+256 GB variant will cost €339 (around $400), while the 8+512 GB variant will cost €389 ($460).
