The new Poco M8 and Poco M8 Pro debuted in China today. These smartphones are essentially clones of the already popular Redmi Note 15 5G and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G models – but they're not identical.

The new Pocos differ little from the aforementioned Redmis. They have different back panel designs, but the more important difference is the different cameras.

Poco M8

Poco M8 features a 6.77-inch 3D AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3200 nits of brightness. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2 memory, and a 5520 mAh battery with 45-watt charging. It also includes a 20-megapixel selfie camera and a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 400 main camera with 2x matrix zoom, supported by a 2-megapixel background blur. The case is available in three colors and offers MIL-STD-810 military-grade durability and IP65 waterproofing. Other features include stereo speakers, an infrared emitter, and an under-screen fingerprint reader. The smartphone launches with Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0, but will soon receive HyperOS 3.0 with the newer Android version. Four updates and six years of security support are planned. Poco M8 5G is available in Black, Green, and Silver color options. It is priced at $229 (£229) for the 8GB/256GB option, whereas the 8GB/512GB gets a price tag of $279 (£259). However, thanks to early-bird offers, you can have the base variant for $209 (£189) and the 512GB model for $259 (£219).

Poco M8 Pro

Poco M8 Pro features a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3200 nits of brightness, all protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It's powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and a 6500 mAh battery with 100W charging and 22.5W reverse power. It features a 32-megapixel selfie camera, a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 main camera with optical image stabilization, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera. It also features stereo speakers, an infrared emitter, and IP68/IP69K waterproofing. Unfortunately, this model is also launching on Android 15. On the other hand, Poco M8 Pro 5G costs $299 (£299) for the 8GB/256GB variant, whereas the 12GB/512GB option is priced at $359 (£349). The early-bird prices for the Pro variant bring the price down to $279 (£259) and $339 (£299), respectively. The phone is also sold in Black, Green, and Silver colors.
