The impressive Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design debuted in China today, inspired by Stuttgart vehicles but aimed more at fans of mobile photography.

The Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design is closely related to the already well-known Honor Magic8 Pro model - but not identical. The back panel is reportedly inspired by Porsche cars and is made of a nanoceramic material boasting a hardness of 8.5 on the Mohs scale. It is claimed to be not only more durable but also lighter than the previous model. The camera bezel, in turn, is said to be inspired by the matrix lighting system in Porsche cars. I won't argue, though I'd have to stretch my imagination to see the similarities... The smartphone is 8.45 mm thick and weighs 239 g, has IP68/IP69/IP69K water resistance, and comes in two colours: Moonstone and Slate Gray.

The front features a 6.71-inch AMOLED LTPO display with curved sides, 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and up to 6,000 nits of brightness. The screen is Dolby Vision certified, features 4320 Hz PWM dimming, and features Giant Rhino Glass. Hidden beneath the screen is an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and even deeper inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, supported by LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 memory, and controlled by Android 16 with Magic UI 10.0 and essential AI features. Power is provided by a 7200 mAh battery with 120-watt wired charging and 80-watt induction. An infrared transmitter and stereo speakers are also included.

An important component of the Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design model's specifications are its cameras. Selfies are taken by a 50-megapixel camera (f/2.0) supported by a depth sensor, not only for portraits but also for 3D facial recognition. The main camera has a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch sensor, an f/1.6 aperture, and optical image stabilization. Another 50-megapixel camera takes wide-angle photos with a 122-degree field of view and macro (f/2.0). The setup is completed by a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch camera with a periscopic telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture and 3.7x zoom, also with optical image stabilization. You can purchase an additional telephoto lens kit for the smartphone, which allows for up to 8.7x optical zoom, as well as an additional grip for easier holding.

Two memory variants are available: 16+512 GB and 24 GB+1 TB, priced at 8,000 and 9,000 yuan, respectively. Converted, that's $1,150 and $1,290. There's currently no information on this model's availability outside of China.
