The itel brand, owned by Transsion along with Infinix and Tecno, has unveiled a surprising budget smartphone in India, the itel A100. What's so surprising about this design?
itel A100 is a budget smartphone with not-so-impressive specifications, but it still has room for a few more interesting features. The most striking feature is the styling, which seems to have drawn too much attention from recent OnePlus and Oppo flagships. This makes the smartphone look rather undistinguished – but at least they've made it available in three color options. The casing boasts military-grade MIL-STD-810H durability and IPX4 waterproofing, and the list of features also includes a DTS speaker, an infrared transmitter, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Furthermore, the smartphone features Ultralink wireless connectivity, unique in its class, which allows users to make free calls in areas with weak or no network coverage, using alternative methods designed for emergency communications. However, this feature only works with compatible itel phones.

The rest of the specifications, however, are rather lackluster, as befits a budget phone. The itel A100 features a 6.6-inch IPS screen with HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate, a Unisoc T7100 processor, and a 5000 mAh battery with 10-watt charging. It also includes a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera. The smartphone runs Android 15 Go and is offered in exceptionally limited memory configurations: 3+64 and 4+64 GB. Prices attempt to mitigate this inconvenience, ranging from 6,700 to 7,500 rupees, or $75-85.
