Red Magic 11S Pro - another edition of the gaming smartphone

The Chinese brand Nubia, owned by ZTE, has unveiled the next edition of its Red Magic gaming series in China. What do the Red Magic 11S Pro models bring?

At first glance, the new Red Magic 11S Pro and Red Magic 11S Pro+ models resemble the previous generation. We see the familiar, angular design with a transparent, striking back and LED backlighting, as well as the internal cooling fan and additional liquid cooling. The style is practically the same, and the visual changes are purely cosmetic. Smartphones continue to impress with their nearly bezel-less, perfectly rectangular displays, concealing not only an ultrasonic fingerprint reader but also a 16-megapixel selfie camera, which is practically invisible when inactive. The screen measures 6.85 inches diagonally, has a 1.5K resolution, and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. It's, of course, an OLED display with BOE X10 luminescent material.

The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Version processor clocked at up to 4.74 GHz and capable of exceeding the 4.5 million point barrier in the AnTuTu benchmark. It's supported by fast memory and a proprietary Red Core R4 coprocessor, designed to improve graphics rendering, frame interpolation, touch response, and overall gaming performance. As mentioned, the smartphone features an extensive "cooler" that utilizes liquid cooling forced by a micro-vibration pump and air cooling with a fan rotating at 24 KHz. Despite the fan, the smartphone maintains an IPX8 seal.

The Red Magic 11S Pro also has two 50-megapixel rear cameras, neither of which protrudes beyond the edge of the casing. The main camera has optical image stabilization, and the secondary camera takes wide-angle photos. Both cameras also record in 4K at 60 fps or 8K at 30 fps, but the front camera unfortunately only records in Full HD. In addition, the smartphones feature stereo speakers, minijacks, infrared emitters, and additional touch triggers for gaming, as well as a special gaming mode activated by a separate slider. The Red Magic 11S Pro has an 8,000 mAh battery with 80-watt charging, while the Red Magic 11S Pro+ has a 7,500 mAh battery with 120-watt charging. Both models also offer battery bypass power, but keep in mind that only the Red Magic 11S Pro with a slightly smaller battery will be available globally. Meanwhile, in China, you can buy the following memory variants:

  • Red Magic 11S Pro 12+256 GB - 5499 yuan, $760
  • Red Magic 11S Pro+ 12+256 GB - 6199 yuan, $860
  • Red Magic 11S Pro+ 16+512 GB - 6999 yuan, $970
  • Red Magic 11S Pro+ 16 GB + 1 TB - 7999 yuan, $1110
We'll find out what the global offering will be at the end of May.
