Redmi 17 5G in India was very similar to the Redmi 17 4G, but the new Redmi 17 5G, which has just gone on sale in China, looks completely different. However, this doesn't mean it's completely original.
The new Redmi 17 5G model has just appeared in Xiaomi's Chinese store, and its elongated camera cluster and smaller battery distinguish it from the other two smartphones with a similar name. Its appearance and specifications are similar to the Redmi A7 Pro 5G, unveiled a few months ago, which in turn shares a lot in common with the Redmi A7 Pro 4G, now available in Europe. The Redmi 17 5G in China features a large 6.9-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 px), a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 800 nits. It's powered by a Unisoc T8300 processor, and comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage expandable with a microSD card, and the HyperOS 3 interface. It features a 13MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera, while its 6300mAh battery charges at 15W and supports reverse charging at 7.5W.
The Redmi 17 5G is available in Star Rock Black, Feather Mist White, and Cold Mist Blue, and is priced at 999 yuan ($148, €128) for the 4+128GB model and 1199 yuan ($178, €154) for the 6GB version.
