As previously announced, the POCO X8 family of powerful mid-range smartphones has expanded with two new models: the POCO X8 5G and the POCO X8 Power 5G. When will they be available for purchase, and at what price?

The design, pricing, and detailed specifications of the two new phones have already been revealed on the Indian retailer Flipkart. Following the understated tones of the POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max, it is time for more vibrant colors: the POCO X8 5G is available in white, black, and orange, while the POCO X8 Power 5G offers a choice between black and a vivid yellow.

The Indian version of the POCO X8 5G is essentially the same smartphone as the European POCO X8, but it stands out thanks to a larger 9,000 mAh battery. This high-capacity battery is its most heavily promoted feature; the manufacturer claims it allows for 3.2 days of usage and supports 67W fast charging, 22.5W reverse charging, and bypass charging.

Another highlight is the 6.83-inch AMOLED display featuring 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, all protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The POCO X8 5G’s durability is backed by a 5-star SGS certification, while IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings promise maximum dust and water resistance. An upcoming update is even set to introduce a special underwater photography mode, though taking the smartphone diving in saltwater or pool water may still carry risks. Photography duties are handled by a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 16MP front-facing selfie camera; the device runs on HyperOS 3.0 (based on Android 16) with a promise of four years of updates and six years of security patches, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor.

The POCO X8 Power 5G outperforms the POCO X8 5G in almost every respect, though not by a radical margin.

Its impressive 10,000 mAh battery lasts for 3.5 days of use, supports 100W charging, and allows for 27W reverse charging of other devices; it is powered by the newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor. The screen and main camera are identical to those of the POCO X8 5G, but the differences lie in an additional 8 MP wide-angle rear camera and a superior 32 MP front camera with optical image stabilization.

The POCO X8 5G and POCO X8 Power 5G will go on sale in India on September 11 at the following prices:

  • POCO X8 5G, 6/128 GB - 29,999 rupees ($318, €273)
  • POCO X8 5G, 8/128 GB - 32,999 rupees ($350, €300)
  • POCO X8 5G, 8/256 GB - 35,999 rupees ($382, €327)
  • POCO X8 5G, 8/128 GB - 35,999 rupees ($382, €327)
  • POCO X8 5G, 8/256 GB - 38,999 rupees ($412, €355)

The POCO X8 has already debuted in Europe, priced between €400 and €450, depending on the variant. It is not yet known how the availability of the POCO X8 Power 5G will shape up in other markets, but the globally available POCO X8 Pro and the POCO X8 Pro Max—which we have reviewed—remain noteworthy alternatives.
