Huawei Unveils Pura X View and Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design

Huawei has today introduced two unique smartphones in China: the wide—yet non-folding—Huawei Pura X View and the dual-folding Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design. Both are attractive, well-equipped, and equally original.

Huawei Pura X View

The Huawei Pura X View aligns with this year's trend of smartphones featuring wide displays; however, unlike other recent releases, this is a classic smartphone rather than a foldable. It sports a 6.39-inch OLED screen with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2232x1320 pixels, and peak brightness of up to 6500 nits. The display features Kunlun Glass, 2160 Hz PWM dimming, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also houses a punch-hole cutout for a 50-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture. On the back, there is a triple-camera setup: a 200-megapixel main camera (f/1.8, OIS), an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens (f/2.2), and a 50-megapixel camera featuring OIS and a periscope telephoto lens with 3.7x zoom and an f/2.6 aperture. At the heart of the smartphone is the Kirin 9030S processor, powered by a 7000 mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, as well as two-way reverse charging. The phone also features eSIM, NFC, satellite connectivity, an IR blaster, and IP68/IP69 ingress protection ratings. In China, it is offered in the following versions:

Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design

The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design is the latest iteration of the dual-folding models for which Huawei is renowned. This new version folds differently—with the flexible screen facing inward to better protect the delicate display panel. Consequently, the model features a second, conventional external screen. It measures 6.5 inches diagonally, boasts a resolution of 2442x1140 pixels, and uses Kunlun glass. The internal screen measures 10.2 inches with a resolution of 3184x2232 pixels. Both are OLED displays featuring a 1–120 Hz refresh rate, 1440 Hz PWM dimming, and support for the Huawei M-Pencil 3 Mini stylus. This smartphone is powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro processor and a 5600 mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Huawei's dual-folding device features two 8-megapixel selfie cameras (f/2.4 aperture)—one on each screen—as well as three rear cameras with RYYB sensors. The main camera offers 50 megapixels, optical image stabilization (OIS), and a variable aperture (f/1.49–f/4.0), while the wide-angle lens has 40 megapixels and an f/2.2 aperture. Rounding out the setup is a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.2 aperture and OIS. Standard features include stereo speakers, eSIM support, an IR blaster, and an interesting extra: the ability to take an ECG reading by holding the sides of the phone.
