I have owned the phone for almost 2 weeks. It gives the impression of being solidly constructed. Based on the IMEI number, the device indicates the manufacturer DJFEMG - in reality, it is an ODM from Lenovo, specifically the V707 model, as Fly offered Lenovo, Sendo, NEC, Ningbo Bird, and Ezze Mobile phones under its brand. The device, like most Fly phones, is adapted for use in Russia and contains only two languages - English and Russian. This model was never protected by a simlock. It is also noteworthy that the phone has a fairly durable cover for the headphone port (2.5mm Jack), and for nearly 20 years, it has not only remained intact but has also retained its original white color.
The charging port may look misleading - it is identical to those in old Samsung phones, including the C300. However, the pins in the charger are different, so one should not connect a Samsung charger to a Fly device and vice versa - Fly S288/S688 phones also have such a port and were manufactured by Ningbo Bird, so I cannot guarantee that every Fly charger will fit the SL400m, therefore it is better to be cautious.
The phone box includes a spare battery, a computer connection cable, a CD with the "PhoneSuite" driver, an external battery charger, and a user manual. After connecting the phone to a computer and selecting the file transfer option, the phone resets and enters file transfer mode. It contains 64MB of built-in memory expandable with a microSD card and supports music in MP3 format.
It is also worth mentioning the disadvantages of the device. You can browse the entire menu on the phone, but there is no option to change profiles there - this is located on the main screen under the "left" navigation button. Most people do not need to use the phone's manual, but this can be problematic. The phone also lacks infrared and Bluetooth, so the only option to transfer anything is a memory card, USB cable, or MMS - which for a multimedia phone from 2006 is difficult to accept, but the device was very inexpensive, so one should take this into consideration. The camera is 1.3 Mpx. It could have been better, but it is not of poor quality.
In summary - the phone was intended to be a compromise between a high-quality multimedia phone (e.g., Nokia Nseries) and a low price. If it had been equipped with Bluetooth, it could have achieved much greater popularity. Unfortunately, Bluetooth, along with infrared, only appeared in the next model in this series - the SL500i.
