Nokia 9500

Technical specifications

I once had this phone. Indeed, it was a bit too delicate for its size. One had to take great care of the safety of this equipment. Using the Nokia 9500 was a pure pleasure. It rarely froze; due to the weak processor (relative to mass storage), it loaded pages slowly, but for those times, it was not the worst result. I was stunned by the wealth of the most prestigious office features, which were hardly available at the time, because one had to find ways and often download suspicious "friendly" and "compatible" Office-type packages.

The speakerphone mode was weak for business purposes, but the active displays had beautiful colors. The keyboard was made of soft, well-functioning rubber-plastic. It lacked backlighting, which was added in the E90. I would rate this equipment (for its time) 9/10.

Nostalgia remains... Now, the overwhelming majority of phones do not differ visually from one another, and this phenomenon proves a lack of originality in design thinking. Such are the times...

I do not know if you are familiar with a certain phone model that can serve quite well today, being inspired by communicators:

Planet Cosmo Communicator (2019). Its basic features:

- A more modern version of Gemini.
- Keyboard like in Gemini, but improved
- Two screens (external + internal)
- System: Android + Linux
- Better cameras
- Phone function: yes

The appearance resembles a futuristic version of the Nokia Communicator.
