Technical specifications

A great smartphone, in one word. Despite almost no changes compared to the 7 Pro, I bought it and still use it today. It is not perfect, it has flaws, quite a few if you look closely, but it seems to me that a perfect smartphone does not exist, though for me this one is definitely the closest. I was attracted to this model by the complete lack of notches, holes, cutouts, or teardrops in the screen, although after the recent sales results of smartphones with punch holes, it is clear that people have accepted them. Focusing on this model, I bought it in January 2020 for 2799 PLN on sale. It launched with Android 10 and a 30 W fast charger - very impressive for that time. The screen is powerful, the curve is subtle, and the colors are very vivid, although I mostly used the natural ones; the 90 Hz refresh rate and the nearly 6.7-inch size are ideal, with a high screen-to-body ratio. The Oxygen OS skin on Android 10 and 11 is original and highly customizable. The phone is extremely fast; the Snapdragon 855+ performs very well, and in most games, it does not reach high temperatures; it remains pleasantly cool during daily tasks, although in ultra-demanding games, despite the power being sufficient, the temperature rises significantly. In the new gaming mode, you can check its temperature and frames or launch an additional app on the screen. The music is top-tier; the excellent speakers with Dolby Atmos perform very well. I remember they made a colossal impression on me at launch, and that feeling remains today. The volume and clarity of both speakers are very effective. On headphones with the original OnePlus 3.5mm jack adapter, the sound is very clear. I often use planar headphones in Cinema sound mode and Dolby Atmos or Sony 360° technology - a pure pleasure to listen to. The main camera is still good today, both during the day and at night. Great portraits and macro. After the update, macro photos can be taken with all three cameras. The 3x zoom is a bit of a marketing stretch for me because there are more details in pro mode using the main sensor at full resolution. Video is great. After the update (only in 30 fps modes), you can switch between the wide and main lenses in 4K quality and all three in 1080p, as well as record short 720p shots at 960 fps. The signal range on this smartphone seems better than the competition. Among the downsides are definitely the manufacturer's updates. Although it works fine, despite today's premiere of the OnePlus 11, where they promised 4 years of major updates and 5 years of patches, to this day I have only received one major update, and the security patches are from June 2022. For a October 2019 release, this is a very short support period. Apparently, the last update to Android 12 is on the way, but not only is it with patches from August 2022(!), its appearance is increasingly merging with Color OS from OPPO. To this day, the updates themselves have not removed, for example, the problems with the lower 60 Hz refresh rate to save battery. Nevertheless, I recommend it as a good pre-owned flagship. There are few smartphones that age this way, which is to say, they simply function well.
