Previously, I gave this model a fairly positive review. Unfortunately, after the system update to HyperOS, the phone started to experience performance issues. After a few days, it seemed to stabilize slightly, but there is still a constant problem with the OLX application, specifically, photos of listed items very often do not display. You have to refresh the app, but then you have to scroll through the list of offers from the beginning again. Furthermore, navigating through OLX itself is an ordeal. Similar problems probably occur in other apps.

Online they write that Redmi Note 12S is the model in which the update worsened usability more than it improved it.

Normally I would not have updated, but the message that appeared stated that a new security version was available, not software. I approved it, and from that moment on, I am completely exasperated.

This is called the remote disabling of a phone by the manufacturer. A lucrative business.

I have owned the phone for a month now and I sincerely recommend it to everyone, it operates smoothly and without any problems. There is nothing better at this price.

I have had this phone since the beginning of July. It is a nice phone, but the battery lasts at most 1 day, and if I only make calls, it lasts about 2 days. The camera is very good, but I am disappointed that it does not have 4K. The phone heats up quite slowly. On the plus side, it has a lot of RAM. A huge plus is also the storage of up to 256 GB for 1300 PLN. The phone rarely freezes, mostly when I have many applications open. The downside is that it does not have 5G, but the Wi-Fi performs excellently, similar to the old Xiaomi Note 7 Pro. I used to have a range of 6-7 meters from the router - now it is even up to 10 m, and the signal is better with more Kb/s or Mb/s. If someone was used to Android 8-10, they will not get used to this easily, but I am managing. I am providing this review because there are few of them on the internet, as this phone has no competitor (probably), and it is not that popular yet, while for example the 11s (my son has one) has already gained more popularity. The phone is for those who have many applications or photos. At the start, you have about 220 GB, but I uninstalled some unnecessary software, for example, I do not use Netflix or Fruit Ninja, so I had about 225 GB (now I have 180 GB and the number has not changed for a few days, because when I installed Messenger and Facebook, I lost about 6 GB in one day).

In short, the pluses:

The minuses:
- protruding camera
- casing quality
- no 5G
- videos in 1k
- if you have a thick case because the camera was protruding, it is impossible to hold it
- applications that do not make sense

I switched from the 11s because I was extremely satisfied with it. The models are almost identical. The main difference is more RAM. The dimensions and the placement of speakers and buttons are identical. The same case can be used. The 12s has several noticeable disadvantages compared to its predecessor, namely the touch sensitivity is not the same, and it has numerous applications that cannot be uninstalled. There is also a software defect, specifically in the settings where you can enable the option to turn off the screen after a long press of the back button. The problem is that in the 12s, while the screen does turn off after a long press, it also performs a back action. In the 11s, this functioned correctly. Therefore, I had to move this option to the background applications button. The battery is excellent, as are the speakers. It is a pity that the "s" line in Redmi has been discontinued.

I switched from the Redmi Note 8T. Even though my previous phone lagged a lot, I decided to give Xiaomi another chance. Unfortunately, the Note 12S disappointed me even more. Poor colors. White looks dirty. Even though I have had the phone for a relatively short time, it has frozen many times already. The camera is weak. If someone moves slightly, the photo comes out blurry. In low light, there is pixelation. Fast charging is in name only. You have to wait several hours for a full charge. Once the battery dies, it cannot be turned on immediately after connecting to power. You have to wait at least 5 minutes. I advise against purchasing this phone.

After picking up the new unit from the store, a standard setup was attempted; everything seemed fine, but after 3 minutes it began to overheat significantly. After taking one test photo (it must be admitted that it was of great quality), an error appeared stating that the device was overheated. A beautifully crafted phone that feels comfortable in the hand. Unfortunately, I returned it under warranty, which I did with great regret because it is beautiful and well-built, but if the phone shuts down due to overheating within the first 10 minutes of use, something is wrong. It might be a defective unit, but I do not wish to try another one.

I am comparing it to the Redmi 10S and essentially there is no technological leap here. The camera is supposedly better in terms of numbers, but it performs the same as in the Redmi 10S, there is no option to disable electronic image stabilization in video, and applications on the new 12S open slower than on the 2 year old Redmi 10S.
Redmi 10S is excellent, but the 12S offers nothing better.

Redmi Note 12S has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection.
