HTC has another problem. As a result of infringement of patents owned by Nokia, the Taiwanese company must withhold December 6 sale of HTC One Mini in the UK.
The UK patent judge Richard Arnold ruled that by producing One Mini HTC infringes patents owned by Nokia associated with electronic microchips. Accordingly, he ordered to suspend the sale. Nokia also calls for financial compensation, but this issue will be dealt with at a separate hearing - the judge gives time to file an appeal. For the same reason the judge did not consider the issue of suspension of the sale of the classic HTC One, which in his view is also made in violation of Nokia's patents.
HTC in a special announcement ensures that the delivery of the One model will not be disturbed, and that an appeal will be filed in this case. In addition, the company asserted that it is diligently working together with allies on the substitutes of disputed chips.
During the last hearing, judge Richard Arnold inadvertently revealed that HTC is going to launch in February or March the successor to One. It is possible it is about the model M8, appearing in gossips, based on a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 overlay. M8 is to receive in addition a 5-inch FullHD display and a 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear-camera.
