At the NEC stand a strange, talking and blinking with lights creature caught our attention. It was standing in a corner of a stand at an inconspicuous table. After a while, we knew that it is called PaPeRo, or PArtner PErsonal RObot. He told us about it itself...
The robot looks inconspicuous, cannot do too complex actions, and yet it has something attractive in itself. You can probably also look from the other side at this gadget - it's not just a toy, but a serious hardware which presents opportunities of the company and heralds the next phase of work on personal genuine electronic assistant.
PaPeRo recognizes the faces of users, responds to touch and voice. It therefore has a pretty good (for a robot) set of "senses". It can independently move, finds its charger and focuses "vision" on the face of the interlocutor. But above all, it understands commands and responds to it. Unfortunately, it does so only in two languages: Japanese and English. And our very good pronunciation seemed to him a bit confusing...

Using funny PaPeRo the company intends to investigate the interaction between humans and robots. The company also wants us to slowly get used to similar machines. And although PaPeRo is not yet a fully functional assistant (after all, the poor thing has no hands!), it is certainly another point towards the creation of an efficient device that will assist in the most menial tasks...
