BlackBerry and Samsung announced partnership

Published:

The BlackBerry company announced a strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics, which purpose is to develop new security measures for the Android system.

As a result, at the beginning of the next year corporate clients will be able to use the highly integrated, safe solution which connects BES12 – multiplatform EMM solutions from BlackBerry with Samsung Galaxy’s smartphones and tablets that are equipped with Samsung Knox.

While developing Knox, Samsung created a set of Android devices capable of a multi-layer (both software and hardware) company’s data protection. BlackBerry brings a multi-platform solution for managing the mobility of the company (EMM) and a safe network’s infrastructure to the partnership. By working together, companies can offer other businesses new and highly secure mobility options.

”Samsung Knox is focused on delivering secure mobility solutions to enterprises and, combined with BES12, we will offer more options for customers that need enhanced levels of security on Android devices” - said Injong Rhee, the vice-president of KNOX Business Group in Samsung Electronics. On the other hand, John Sims, the president of Global Enterprise Services in BlackBerry said: ”Samsung KNOX offers a number of hardware and software security features and our partnership allows us to tightly integrate these capabilities with BES12”.

With BES12 and Samsung KNOX, customers can benefit from the following services:

  • An integrated solution, which combines the safety of connection, applications and the possibility to manage data, which BlackBerry is famous for, with security measures built-in to Samsung Galaxy devices.
  • An enhancement of Android’s security, which decreases threats, minimalizing at the same time the risk of problems caused by faulty apps.
  • A complete separation of work and personal data activity for uncompromised corporate and privacy safety of employees.
  • A number of security enhancements for a better protection of the device’s integrity, from the kernel to the application.
  • An increased comfort of user’s work by elastically matching solutions to companies’ needs.
  • New, common solutions connecting BES12 and KNOX will be available next year. Samsung will offer BES12 for its clients, while BlackBerry will provide a KNOX support as a part of a so-called “golden” BES12 subscription – but prices will be announced later.
