On July 12 in the afternoon, the launch of the Nothing Phone 1 smartphone took place. This is the first model of the brand established by Carl Pei, the former co-founder of OnePlus.
First, the most important information. Nothing Phone 1 costs 469 euro for the 8+128 GB variant and 499 euro for the 8+256 GB version. Later, there will be an option of 12+256 GB for 549 euro. What is equally important - the smartphone is offered in as many as 26 countries. Are the previous leaks regarding the appearance and specifications of Nothing Phone 1 confirmed? To a large extent - yes.
The smartphone has a rather characteristic styling, with a translucent back of the housing and illuminated elements under the surface. The backlight can be used as an indicator light. The highlighting of individual elements may signal, for example, an incoming call from a specific contact. The device can be black or white. The display is a 6.55-inch AMOLED matrix with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen is HDR10+ certified and a hole for the 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 selfie camera (f/2.45). The rear camera is double, but the manufacturer explains this modesty quite simply: it is better to have two really good cameras than four average or even weak ones. In fact, cameras make sense. The basic unit Sony IMX766 (f/1.88) is accompanied by a wide-angle Samsung JN1 module with a field of view of 114 degrees (f/2.2). Both cameras work at a resolution of 50 Mpx. The power supply is provided by a 4500 mAh battery with 33-watt charging, but the charger must be organized separately. It is also possible to charge inductive 15 W and reverse 5 W. The heart of the smartphone is the Snapdragon 778G processor, supported by LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memory. All this is controlled by the Nothing OS 1 operating system based on Android 12. The housing of the smartphone has an IP53 tightness class.

As you can see, the debut smartphone Nothing is a pretty good design with an original appearance - but I do not suspect that it can mess with the smartphone market. In my opinion, it is rather a model for technology fans looking for an inexpensive and decently constructed smartphone - and certainly not a challenge to the leading manufacturers.
