CAT introduced its first smartphone that supports 5G networks. What else does the new CAT S53 offer?
Like all models of the brand, CAT S53 is a high-strength construction. The housing is shock and crushproof (MIL SPEC 810H), and is also highly dust and moisture resistant: IP68 and IP69K. The smartphone can withstand a fall from 1.8 meters onto a hard surface, can be submerged to 1.5 meters for more than half an hour and tolerates temperatures from -25 to 55 degrees C. In the depths of the housing, CAT S53 is a budget buddy though. It is based on the Snapdragon 480 processor, supported by a decent 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal memory, drawing energy from a 5500 mAh battery, but rather without fast charging.

There is a classic fingerprint reader on the rubberized back of the housing, as well as a large frame, hiding only two lenses. The first one works with a 48-megapixel main matrix, while the second one takes pictures, probably in 2 Mpx. The manufacturer also mentions a 16-megapixel selfie camera, which is placed in the droplet cutout of the 6.5-inch HD+ display. The phone equipment is complemented by, among others a minijack, NFC, DualSIM and a programmable, additional key and a separate flashlight on the top (regardless of it, there is also an LED diode on the rear camera). The model is currently available in the Czech Republic and Hungary, where it costs 212,475 forints.
