The lock screen will be better customizable by placing shortcuts of your choice on it, and those present on before the widgets can adapt their style to the situation - the weather widget can, for example, take on a more expressive form in the event of upcoming bad weather conditions. Android 14 will also allow you to view more expressive photos on your smartphone thanks to support for Ultra HDR images.
To protect your phone from intruders, Google will now encourage the user to set at least a 6-digit PIN, and after entering all the numbers, the phone will immediately unlock, without the need for another tap to confirm. The control over sharing data with applications will also be improved - before giving consent, we will receive information whether the application can share our information with third parties and what it will be used for. The built-in Health Connect function will collect activity and health data from applications such as Fitbit or Samsung Health in one encrypted place on the phone.
There are also several accessibility improvements to help people with vision or hearing problems use the phone. The magnifying glass feature is now resizable and can be used continuously while switching between apps, you can connect and control your hearing aids more easily, and in addition to audio notifications, Android 14 will also offer flash notification options.
New features will be available first on Google smartphones - both the latest Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, as well as older models Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7A, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a 5G and Pixel 4a 5G . Soon, the Android 14 system should also come to smartphones of other brands, and their manufacturers will soon start informing us about its availability.
