The Google event scheduled for August 13 will bring a lot of new products - we can expect the debut of Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and all four models will significantly stand out from their predecessors.
This is what the Google Pixel 9 series smartphones look like!
Some of the changes in the new generation are visible to the naked eye. Kamila Wojciechowska who specializes in leaks about Google smartphones managed to obtain photos from the Taiwanese regulatory office NCC - they show both three classic smartphones and the successor of Google Pixel Fold. So far, we've only seen one, low-detail image of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and now we can take a much better look at it.
New photos of the model with serial number GGH2X confirm details previously revealed on renders of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, previously known unofficially as the Google Pixel Fold 2. Instead The elongated island typical of the Pixel series has a more rectangular shape with two stripes, and the internal selfie camera is now located on the top of the screen. The foldable screen of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has narrower upper and lower frames, and the fold at the bend also seems to be smaller. The unfolded smartphone now lies completely flat, while the first Fold could not be opened completely.

We have already seen the other Google Pixel 9 models in photos, so their NCC photos (standard Pixel 9 with serial number GUR25, Pixel 9 Pro with GEC77 and Pixel 9 Pro XL with GZC4K) are not surprising. However, some parameters noted by the certification authority are noteworthy - according to them, the Pixel 9 Pro by Google Pixel 8 Pro.
What exactly will change in Pixel 9 cameras?
The new generation of Pixel modifies its visual style - the protruding camera island no longer takes up the entire width of the housing. The technical specifications of the new cameras are also changing this year, largely for the better, starting with the entry-level one, where the old 1/2.8-inch wide-angle 12 Mpx Sony IMX386 camera is replaced by a larger 1/2.51-inch Sony IMX858 with a resolution 50 Mpx.
Google has serious plans for the Sony IMX858 matrix, because in the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models it will serve not only as a wide-angle camera, but also as a telephoto lens and even as a front selfie camera. This means that the Pixel 9 Pro models will be equipped with four 50 Mpx cameras and will be perfect for selfie fans. Google Pixel 9 will remain behind in this respect, but its 10.5 Mpx front camera will also stand out positively from Google Pixel 8, because together it will offer autofocus. The main camera of all three models, i.e. the 50 Mpx Samsung GNK, will remain unchanged. Both Pro models will also receive the Melexis MLX90632 infrared thermometer, although for many people this is a questionably useful element.

A lot of changes also affected the foldable Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but in this case it is worse - three cameras have been replaced with smaller ones! This time, a 1/3.2-inch Samsung 3LU will be used for wide-angle photos, and two 1/3.94-inch Samsung 3K1 cameras on an external and foldable screen will be used for selfies. It is possible that the reason for reducing the cameras is to slim down the entire device - when unfolded, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be 5.27 mm thick, almost 2 mm less than the first Google Pixel Fold.
Finally, one more good news - the new series will finally use the option of recording videos in 8K resolution (7680×4320) at 30 frames per second, supported by the Tensor G3 processor! This is confirmed by the new version of the Pixel Camera application, although it is not yet known which models will benefit from this function and whether it will be available on the day of release.
