Do you remember the Polish brand Mudita, which wanted to promote a phone for digital detox? The Mudita Pure project did not work out - but the company is returning to the idea with a new model - Mudita Kompakt.
The concept of a phone that helps to maintain digital hygiene - Mudita Pure - did not work out. Perhaps not because of the concept itself, but because of the price of the device, inadequate to its capabilities - and problems with the device itself that customers reported. However, the Polish brand did not disappear - it waited out the difficult period by offering minimalistic stylized watches and alarm clocks. Now, the project of Michał Kiciński, known as the co-founder of CD Projekt (famous for the games The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077) is back with a new idea. Mudita Kompakt is a minimalist phone, but with broader capabilities than the debut Mudita Pure.

Mudita Kompakt is a phone that looks more like an e-book reader than a phone. And rightly so, because it has an e-ink display, and - which is somewhat obvious - it can also act as such a reader. However, this is not the only function. Of course, there will be an option for calling and texting (with DualSIM), as well as a music player, the forerunner of which is the presence of a minijack output in the device. At the moment, we do not know what other applications will be included in the phone and whether it will be possible to download more apps - we only know that the interface will be minimalist, and the manufacturer mentions a "clear operating system" - without indicating what platform it is based on. The system is to be "tracking-free" - i.e. ensuring a high level of privacy.
The Mudity Kompakt screen is 4.3 inches, and the entire device measures 128x70x12.6 mm, so it is rather handy, although not necessarily slim. Below the screen, there are three control buttons, reminiscent of old Android phones - although here one of the buttons launches a quick, handy shortcut menu. The phone will be able to be charged inductively, or wired, via USB-C. Unfortunately, this is all the information provided by the manufacturer. We do not yet know the details of the specification, nor the expected price of the device. A Kickstarter campaign should start soon - and then we will probably find out more. Some of the graphics show the date September 23, others February 26. Maybe that means something...?
