Honor's new compact foldable smartphone doesn't outperform the competition in every respect, but it's unrivaled when it comes to battery capacity. It's time to officially meet it.

Externally, Honor Magic V Flip2 is similar in appearance to the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip7, although its dual cameras on the external screen are vertically positioned, and in the limited edition, it also features a case designed by a fashion designer. Inside, its battery stands out from the competition – its capacity is 5500 mAh, and it can be charged wired at 80W or inductively at 50W. Reverse charging at 7.5W is also available.

The Honor Magic V Flip 2's processor is a bit more modest – it's the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, once the best of the best, but now two generations behind. This doesn't mean it's not still a very powerful processor, and Honor's new flip phone makes up for this minor shortcoming with other advantages.

One of them is undoubtedly the camera setup. The main feature is a 1/1.4-inch 200MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture and dual OIS and EIS stabilization, accompanied by a 50MP wide-angle camera that also takes macro shots and a 50MP selfie camera on the internal screen. The only thing missing is a telephoto lens... but the latest foldable Motorola doesn't have that either.

The other specifications of the Honor Magic V Flip 2 are also on par with flagships. Its external 4-inch OLED display has a resolution of 1200 x 1092 pixels and reaches a peak brightness of 3600 nits, while the internal 6.82-inch foldable OLED has a resolution of 2868 x 1232 pixels and achieved a brightness of up to 5000 nits in lab tests. The flip-style smartphone runs Android 15 with the MagicOS 9.0.1 interface, and is protected from damage by a durable UTG glass coating on the foldable screen and IP58 and IP59 waterproof certifications.

The Honor Magic V Flip 2 will go on sale in China on August 28th in four color variants and four memory kits at different prices. Three more affordable variants will be available in purple, white, and titanium gray, and there's also a limited edition with 16 GB of RAM and a glossy dark blue casing, co-designed by renowned Malaysian fashion designer Jimmy Choo. The prices for each memory variant are as follows:

  • 12 GB, 256 GB - 5,499 yuan ($770, €660)
  • 12 GB, 512 GB - 5,999 yuan ($840, €720)
  • 12 GB, 1 TB - 6,499 yuan ($910, €780)
  • 16 GB, 1 TB - 7,999 yuan ($1,120, €960)
