RedMagic, a brand under Nubia, has unveiled the latest iteration of its gaming-focused model in China today. Meet the RedMagic 12 Pro+!
The latest version of the RedMagic gaming smartphone features subtle design refinements. The metal frame now has slightly more rounded edges, while the screen—much like the back panel—retains a rectangular shape with sharp corners. As always, the back panel is transparent, revealing the illuminated components of the AquaCore liquid cooling system, which has been upgraded and enlarged compared to the previous generation. The cooling setup includes a large vapor chamber, a "Liquid Metal 4.0" thermal compound, and an integrated fan that spins at 25,000 RPM. A new color option, "Skyfrost" (a shade of blue), has also been introduced. True to the series' signature style, the camera lenses remain flush with the body, not protruding from the casing. The included protective case has also been updated; it is now transparent, allowing the smartphone’s design to shine through.

The smartphone weighs 223 grams and measures 163.03 x 75.96 x 8.55 mm. It carries an IP68/IP69 ingress protection rating—though it should be noted that the internal fan is protected against liquids (IPX8) but not against dust. The front and rear panels are crafted from Gorilla Glass 7i. At the heart of the RedMagic 12 Pro+ lies the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, supported by the proprietary RedCore R5 coprocessor—which enhances gaming performance—and the RedMagic G1, which boosts refresh rates and resolution (up to 2K) in select titles. The display, a 6.85-inch OLED panel featuring BOE X11 luminescent material, supports refresh rates of up to 185 Hz and offers a resolution of 2688 x 1216 pixels. While the screen reaches a peak brightness of 1900 nits, it can hit as high as 5000 nits in specific areas. The touch sampling rate is a constant 500 Hz, which can be boosted to 5000 Hz in certain spots to ensure precision during gameplay. The bezels surrounding the display have been reduced from 1.25 mm to just 0.96 mm—and they are symmetrical! To protect the user's vision, the device employs 2592 Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness levels, switching to DC dimming at higher levels.

The RedMagic 12 Pro+ also features powerful, symmetrical stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos; unfortunately, this generation has lost the 3.5mm headphone jack. It does, however, retain an infrared blaster, RGB lighting, an X-axis vibration motor, side-mounted gaming triggers with a 520 Hz sampling rate, and an additional "Magic Key." By default, this key opens the gaming menu, but it can be remapped to other functions. Power is supplied by an 8400 mAh battery, which supports 120W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, a power bypass feature, and 22.5W reverse charging. The battery is rated for nearly 30 days of standby time, over 9 hours of gameplay in *Wuthering Waves*, or more than 24 hours of video playback. The device runs Android 17 with the RedMagic OS12 interface. It includes a 5G modem with omnidirectional antennas, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC, as well as an ultrasonic, under-display fingerprint scanner. Beneath the screen lies the ninth generation of the under-display selfie camera, while the rear setup now consists of two 50-megapixel cameras (main and wide-angle), with the macro lens having been removed.
