Published:

Toshiba officially announced in Japan its first tablet Android 3.0. Honeycomb. Model Regza Tablet AT300 was already announced in January, but for the official launch we had to wait until yesterday.

The manufacturer has applied in it platform Nvidia Tegra 2 with dual-core processor ARM Cortex-A9 clocked 2 x 1 GHz and a 1 gigabyte of RAM. The tablet has a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The Adaptive Display system used in it automatically modifies backlight strength, contrast and colour saturation to get the best lighting conditions in the data image. The other side of the enclosure was covered with non-slip texture EasyGrip, to facilitate holding the device.

AT300 supports WiFi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth, but unfortunately, it hasn't been mentioned anything about plans to introduce a 3G version. But we should not exclude the possibility that Toshiba will decide to implement this option at a later date. Until then, it remains yet to enjoy the HDMI output and the solution raising practicality which is connected with placing a USB device, both in full-scale, as well as the popular version miniUSB. As for a device with Android, there could not miss the set of sensors - in addition to said light sensor, it will have an accelerometer, gyroscope and electronic compass, though the specification does not mention the built-in GPS module. It is possible that it is taken for granted, but until we have a tablet in hand, it is difficult to verify my conjecture.

The decent tablet should have a camera, and preferably two. And so it is equipped Regza. It has a 2-megapixel recorder at the front and a 5-megapixel on the back - both, unfortunately, devoid of flash, but the rear is supposed to have autofocus. But this is still just an unconfirmed rumour. Certain is the info about the memory data. In addition to an SD card slot, the AT300 user will have a built-in flash media with a capacity of 8, 16 or 32 GB. The manufacturer also thought about music freaks, adding to the motherboard SRS Premium Voice Pro, which improves the sound.

Thanks to the solution Regza Apps Connect the tablet will be able to communicate and share multimedia and other applications, with Toshiba devices such as televisions, notebook computers and players and smartphones. Version of the Japanese market, thanks to this communication, will be able to function as a recorder, recording material even on television. Unfortunately, combinations of other markets do not provide a similar opportunity.

Finally I will recall once again the three relevant parameters. The tablet has dimensions of 177x273x15, 8 mm, and weighs 765 grams. Its battery is intended to provide for 5-7 hours of work, and its duration depends on the type of tasks to which we will use the device. The higher value refers probably to play video or music without the use of wireless communications ...

And the price ... And here an interesting discrepancy. In Japan, high equipped Regza AT300 is expected to cost 60 thousand yen, or about $ 730, which hardly makes it uniquely a bargain purchase. The service Newsegg.com claims that pricing for the U.S. market looks more preferably, for there the same tablet, although a bit stripped down and fitted with only 8 GB of memory can be purchased now for $ 450. 16 GB version will cost about $ 50 more, while the 32 GB model priced at $ 580, which is clearly still cheaper than in Japan. It's interesting what will be the price at which the tablet will visit Europe ...? If you have any other types - write about them in the comments!
