iPhone 5C & iPhone 5S - Apple's new duet

In the Town Hall at the Apple campus in Cupertino, California, there was a presentation of two novelties of the company: iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. There were no major surprises, but we can say that most of the rumours were confirmed.

Tim Cook began by inviting all at the iTunes Festival, and later announced that in a month there will be sold the 700 millionth iOS device, which will soon be the most popular operating system - he said. Well, we'll see. I'd like to have so much optimism, as Cook.

After a while, Cook was joined by Craig Federighi, who took the advantage of referring to iOS 7. Improved Siri, the new lock screen, new ringtones and notifications... Improved picture viewer, iTunes Radio... That's all we know from the June WWDC. iOS 7 will be available on September 18 - for iPhone 4, 4S and 5, iPad 2 and newer versions, iPad mini, and the 5th generation of iPod touch.

Then Cook returned to the stage - and there's time to praise the advantages of iWork ... The biggest will be that on the new devices with iOS package it will be for free! I was lost for words and dropped my iPad...

Color iPhone 5C has a casing made of polycarbonate, A6 processor and 4-inch Retina display. It also has a new camera app, 3X zoom, photo filters, a new 1.2 megapixel FaceTime camera. Apart from that more LTE bands than any other smartphone in the world, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 5 casing colours to choose from. 16 GB costs $ 99, and 32 GB - $ 199. This is with an operator contract, because without it, the price is 549 or $ 649.

Apple's chief designer (and one of the fathers of the current success of the company) talked for a moment about the beauty of the casing which is made from a single part of polycarbonate and then the time has come for us to know iPhone 5S.
Three colours: black, gold and silver. The style is essentially the same (why to improve something what is good - it was probably thought by Apple... ), but inside there is a 64-bit A7 processor. Two times faster than A6 which at the chip of the same size housed half of the transistors. I'll take your word for it. The new model is reportedly 56 times faster than the first iPhone. Graphics supports OpenGL ES 3.0. iPhone5S has the new M7 motion coprocessor that gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to offload work from the A7 for improved power efficiency.

Battery? 10 hours of 3G talk time, 250 hours on standby, or 10 hours internet access in LTE or 40 hours of music playback. I did not notice that similar data is provided in case of the model 5C... Time for a camera. It has a five-element lens with a f/2.2 aperture and a dual LED flash called True Tone. There is 15 percent larger active sensor area, other features include autofocus matrix metering, with the ability to let the camera automatically pick the sharpest of the series of photos. Speaking about the series - you can make up to 10 frames/s, and we have digital image stabilization. There is also slow motion (120 frames/sec), while maintaining 720p. What's more, you can change the speed without interrupting the recording. The film can run normally, then it may be in slow motion, then you can accelerate again - an interesting effect. Another option is a 28 megapixel panorama.

Another revelation: a fingerprint sensor. There were speculations, gossips - and here it is! Touch ID is the best protection in the world, provided of course that we do not lose a finger ;) The sensor is built right into the home button. It is 170 microns thin, 500 ppi resolution, scans sub-epidermal skin layers and has 360-degree readability. It takes into account the deeper layer of the skin, it is to be flawless. The button doesn’t have any longer a characteristic pattern, it is made with the sapphire crystal and has a metal frame. It can detect that your finger is actually on the button, so you don't have to press it. Importantly, will not only unlock the phone with the fingerprint, but also approve purchases on iTunes.

Prices? 16 GB - $ 199, 32 GB - $ 299 and the 64 GB - $ 399. Of course, all prices include a contract with the U.S. carrier. Prices for Europe will be announced later. iPhone 5 will disappear from the offer, which confirms my suspicions that it will be replaced with 5C, which - I assume - differs from the "five" only with the casing. There will be maintained the 8GB variant of the iPhone 4S, which in the U.S. will be added to the contract for free. Apple is also offering corporate, rubber covers at only $ 29 each. 5C can be ordered from September 13, and on September 20 two new models will be already on store shelves in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and… China! "Worse" countries will have to wait until December.
