The can replacing a boring box is stylish and colour-matched to the casing of the smartphone. Alcatel presents a device destined to delight with its appearance, elegance and discrete reflections of light. Idol Alpha is eye-catching.
It looks attractive and the transparent elements of the casing filled with light attract surrounding to the phone. In the photos below I think that I have managed to capture the glow of the bottom case – the one with the symbols of touch icons, but also the top part is lit, at least during charging. I will try to observe in which other situations this characteristic for this model exterior lightning is triggered. For now, I really like the mesmerizing LEDS. They are not like headlights. They rather discreetly imply the activity of Idol Alpha.

The phone’s packaging equipment meets my needs. The obvious addition is the charger with a cable, which is also used for data exchange. In addition, we receive a loudspeaker set with earbuds, a key to the SIM card drawer and a micro-USB to 3,5mm jack adapter, as there is no jack socket in the casing. I have also discovered that the small pillow which was in the can, protecting the smartphone during transportation, can be used as a casing for accessories.

Alcatel One Touch Idol Alpha is not the leading device in the colloquial sense of the word. A quad-core CPU with 1,2GHz clock speed will not threat the high-end competition, but it should be enough for smooth handling, web-surfing and multimedia using. With the declared in the specifications 16 GB internal memory, for the user remains exactly 12.64 GB. A 13-megapixel camera promises at least decent photos and movies, but for me, the biggest attraction is the screen with the IPS display, oleophobic coating (less greasy traces) and the Japanese Dragon Trail glass, which I hold in high regard.

Idol Alpha is a designer phone; it defends itself with a very neat design, unusual appearance and a remarkable specification. I hope that during the usage and tests it will live up to our expectations.
