Panasonic showed two devices: Toughpad FZ-N1 and FZ-F1. They are referred to as the lightest and smallest devices in the Panasonic offer designed for field workers in logistics, production, trade or emergency services. They are called tablets, despite their size suggests that we are dealing with smartphones.
The product manager at the booth explained, however, that the manufacturer does not want comparisons with the "typical" smartphones on the market, because then it would be a field for the specification and price comparison and Panasonic could lose on that. The described Toughpads have a much higher functionality from smartphones, and are aimed primarily at business customers.

Neither FZ-N1 (model running on Android) or FZ-F1 (model with Windows) will not be in the scope of interest of an average Joe, but those people who are intensively using capabilities of mobile devices in the physical work - as much as possible.

Both devices have the same specification, the only difference between them is the operating system. New Toughpads are devices with a 4.7-inch HD display offering 3G/4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, and a very high resistance to drops and water. They meet military standards MIL-810G 8STD (a drop from 1.8 meters) and are waterproof IP67 (submersible to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes). There is a replaceable battery, two cameras (main 8-megapixel, 5 megapixel front), three microphones for better noise reduction (superior noise suppression), dual speakers on the front panel and the volume up to 100 dBA.

For the operation of the equipment there is responsible a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974AB processor and 2 GB of RAM. There is also 16 GB of internal memory expandable with a microSD card. In addition, new Toughpads have an integrated barcode reader (uniquely contoured for scanning without turning device), programmable buttons, dual-SIM (card size micro, but no hot-swap) and interesting settings in software, allowing, for example, to select the thickness of worn gloves (to get a better response of the screen) or "intensity" of rain (to offset the random action of water on the screen).

Optionally, you can buy the lid with a larger battery 6400 mAh (standard is 3200 mAh). Obviously the range of accessories is much wider, it covers all covers, docks, handles. The most interesting is an active stylus that allows you to remember and store pressure when writing. Thanks to this one can, for example, compare the signatures (there is a relevant application for this).

The prices of Toughpads have been set at 1,715 euro for the model with Android and 1,746 euro for the model with Windows (prices without VAT).
