Corning officially announced the introduction of a new generation of glass, which is characterized by improved resistance to drops and scratches. Gorilla Glass 5 is to hit smartphones later this year.

They have not forgotten to provide high sensitivity to touch and parameters of the displayed image. The new glass four times more than its competitors provides a "survival" of a smartphone's screen in the event of a fall. In laboratory tests 80% of cells survived positively a fall from a height of 1.6 meters. Gorilla Glass 5 is the successor to the fourth generation, which appeared on the market in 2014. Until now, Gorilla Glass was implemented in 1800 products of 40 major brands, which together have been sold in an impressive number of more than 4.5 billion copies. Why the popularity? Here we can support with the statistics. According to Corning, up to 85% of users at least once a year drops its smartphones, and 55% drops more than 3-times.
