Zeiss again in Nokia's smartphones!

photo: NokiaMobile on Twitter

Nokia today announced a partnership with Xiaomi, while HMD Global (the maker of Nokia smartphones) has announced a partnership with Zeiss.

This may mean that future Nokia smartphones will be equipped (as in previous years) with Zeiss optics. The official announcement is that Zeiss and HMD have signed a long-term partnership agreement to build and develop imaging technology for smartphones.

The message does not, of course, contain any specific announcements. In addition to the bare-bones information on partnership, we also find enthusiastic and hopeful statements of representatives from both companies, as well as ensuring that both companies intend to redefine the quality of mobile photography and set new standards in this area. If you are interested in the full text of the message - I encourage you to click on the source link.

For us, one thing is important: Zeiss cameras will return to phones with the Nokia logo. We do not know exactly when, we do not know what the two companies will offer - but it looks like the old fruitful cooperation will continue for several years to come.

The clip posted by Nokia on Twitter contains the clue that - perhaps - the first fruits of this cooperation will be announced later this year, but I would be careful with too literal interpretation of the marketing video. Letting go of the fantasy, in the clip can also see tips for dual-lens optics with variable focal lengths - but this is only my loose assumption ...
