The Redmi Note 8 series, about which we wrote more than once on the site, finally has its official debut behind it. The launch of the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro models took place in Beijing. Check the extent to which rumours about their appearance and specifications have confirmed.
Both new models bring many improvements over their predecessors. They offer more powerful processors, screens that take up more space on the front panel and quad cameras. And both are offered at great prices.
Redmi Note 8
Redmi Note 8 works under the control of the MIUI 10 interface, based on Android 9 Pie and has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ screen (1080x2340 pixels) with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, which occupies 90% of the front panel and has a drop-shaped indentation. The device has Gorilla Glass 5 both on the front and back of the casing. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, supported by 4 or 6 GB of RAM.
The quad camera is responsible for photos, which consists of: a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens and two cameras with a resolution of 2 megapixels. There is also a camera for selfies, which has 13 megapixels. Redmi Note 8 has a 4000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and an infrared port.
Redmi Note 8 is offered in three colours: Dream Blue, Meteorite Black and White. Only the black variant will have no gradient finish. The sale of Redmi Note 8 will start on September 17. The price of Redmi Note 8 has been set at:
- 999 yuan for the 4/64 GB version
- 1199 yuan for the 6/64 GB version
- 1399 yuan for the 6/128 GB version
Redmi Note 8 Pro
Redmi Note 8 Pro supports two SIM cards, has Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 overlay, and the effects can be viewed on a 6.53-inch Full HD+ screen with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels. The screen has a drop-shaped indentation, and both the front and back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone has a new Mediateka system, Helio G90T, which supports up to 8 GB of RAM. Xiaomi also added support for smooth cooling on the smartphone to improve the gaming experience. There is also Game Turbo 2.0 mode. It is worth noting that the company will also sell a game controller for this model.
Redmi Note 8 Pro has four cameras: the main sensor has 64 megapixels, it is supported by a wide-angle camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels and two 2-megapixel cameras. A 20-megapixel camera for selfies at the front. The smartphone is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery with 18 W quick charge support, NFC, USB type C port, 3.5 mm audio jack and an infrared port. The smartphone can also boast with an IP52 certificate.
Redmi Note 8 Pro will be sold in three colours: Pearl White, Ice Emerald and Electric Light Grey at the following prices:
- 1399 yuan for the 6/64 GB version
- 1599 yuan for the 6/128 GB version
- 1799 yuan for the 8/128 GB version
Sales of Redmi Note 8 Pro will start on September 3. In addition to the usual Redmi Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi has also introduced a limited edition of the World of Warcraft phone that will offer exclusive gadgets, custom themes and more.
