Redmi 8 looks better

On the front, both models are similar to their names. They are difficult to distinguish: they have screens with droplet notches, as well as fairly wide bezels. This is especially visible at the bottom of the screen, where the bezel is large enough to contain the Redmi logo. But it is after this detail that I will distinguish these models. Redmi 8 has more blank space under the screen, as well as a larger logo. Judging by the front, I would choose Redmi Note 8T. But everything changes when we look at the back. Here, Redmi 8 comes to the fore thanks to the original design and the nicer, centrally located camera frame. The Redmi Note 8T pattern on the back is less expressive, and the camera frame ordinary, in the corner. So - if you are only guided by style and the appearance of the phone is the overriding feature for you - take Redmi 8!

Redmi Note 8T is bigger and heavier

It is not easy to choose a handier of comparable models. I would lie if they were identical - but I think the differences are minimal. Redmi Note 8T is a little longer (161.15 x 75.40 x 8.60 mm), but slimmer and narrower than Redmi 8 measuring 156.48 x 75.41 x 9.4 mm. Impressions when held in hand will therefore be similar, although the Redmi 8 screen is easier to "grasp" with one hand. By weight - there is also no drastic difference: Redmi 8 weighs 188 g, Redmi Note 8T less than 200. Judge for yourself whether the difference of less than 13 g is noticeable for you...

Redmi Note 8T has a larger and better screen

The Redmi Note 8T display is definitely better than the Redmi 8. The difference in size is not significant (6.3" vs. 6.22") (Compare the dimensions of Redmi Note 8T and Redmi 8), but the resolution - yes. The cheaper model has an HD+ matrix, the more expensive - Full HD+. Is it worth paying extra? In my opinion, yes! The difference in pixel density (270 vs. 409 ppi) is so large that comparing screens we can easily see the difference in image quality. It catches the eye the more that both displays have a similar shape and size. Both display protects Corning glass (GG5), both use IPS technology - therefore the readability angles and brightness of the screens are similar. Nevertheless - clarity prevails and I definitely bet on Redmi Note 8T.

Redmi Note 8T has higher performance

I will bet on this model in the field of performance. Redmi Note 8T is a typical medium phone, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and Adreno 610 graphics. In turn, in Redmi 8 you will find a closer to a budget class Snapdragon 439 with Adreno 505 graphics. Both models have with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal memory (in the Redmi Note 8T there is also the 128 GB variant).

When deciding between these two models, you have to think about how much you can spend on the phone and whether you need higher performance - in other words: you play. If you don't like games, you don't have to choose a more expensive phone. The weaker one can also do it. Still, I'll repeat my favorite piece of advice: buy the variant with the most memory you can afford. If you can afford the 4 GB RAM model - don't save. Sooner or later you'll find that it was a good choice. When it comes to choosing your internal memory, just check that the one you have on your current phone is enough. If you haven't taken more than 75% of its capacity for a year or two, you can look for savings by buying a model with the same carrier. Otherwise - get bigger! Of course, in the Redmi discussed there are slots for microSD cards, so the memory is probably enough...

NFC only in Redmi Note 8T!

If you pay contactless by phone and you like to easily pair the phone with accessories, you have no choice. You need to buy Redmi Note 8T, i.e. choose the more expensive option! As a consolation I will add that both phones have minijacks and USB-C. Note: Redmi 8 Wi-Fi only works in the 2.4 GHz band.

Identical interface

Both models are from the same manufacturer, so they have the same MIUI interface. This is the company's Android overlay, known with all Xiaomi and Redmi models. It is quite friendly. It offers extensive personalization options as well as very convenient gesture support. Xiaomi adds some factory applications, but you don't need them, you can easily remove them.

Classic finger readers

Both models have classic fingerprint readers. They are quite fast and reliable. The Redmi 8 reader is slightly larger, but it was placed next to the camera. It is easy to accidentally get your finger dirty on the camera glass. The Redmi Note 8T reader is further away from the camera, but the ease of use of the sensors is similar in both models. In terms of ergonomics, everything is fine.

Redmi 8 has a larger battery

In Redmi 8 we have a clearly larger battery - with a capacity of up to 5000 mAh. Redmi Note 8T with its 4000 mAh also does not have to be ashamed, but due to slightly more powerful components - the difference in working time will be noticeable. It can reach even the whole day - considering that higher performance and a screen with better resolution will encourage Redmi Note 8T users to more often reach for games and multimedia. On the other hand, the smaller Redmi Note 8T battery will charge faster. Both batteries fill with 18 W power chargers.

Redmi Note 8T has a better camera

If you like taking pictures, definitely reach for Redmi Note 8T. The Redmi 8 camera is only enough for occasional photographers. Redmi Note 8T will not only take better photos, but will provide even greater versatility, offering not only a large matrix, but also a wide-angle and macro lens. In Redmi 8 - just an extra "eye" to blur the background...

Is it better to buy Redmi 8 or Redmi Note 8T?

Without looking into the price list, I would definitely bet on Redmi Note 8T. It may be slightly less effective and has a smaller battery, but it offers a much better display, higher performance and a definitely better camera. In terms of dimensions, weight and convenience, both models are similar, but in Redmi 8 we do not have NFC. Have we chosen the winner?

Redmi Note 8T costs 150-250 EUR (depending on the version of the memory), while Redmi 8 can be found even for 110 EUR, but with 3+32 GB memory, which I do not necessarily recommend. Let's compare the average store prices (May 2020) of the 4+64 GB version. We then have 140 versus 170 EUR. In the budget segment, the 30 EUR difference is already significant. Still, I urge you to buy more expensive models if you can afford it. And just as I do not recommend Redmi 8 with 3+32 GB memory, I do not necessarily recommend the most expensive of today's comparison options - Redmi Note 8T 4+128 GB for 250 EUR. With approximately 250 EUR at your disposal, you can already try to look for more interesting models... So - in the first place I recommend Redmi Note 8T 4+64 GB, and more economical, not using NFC and rarely playing and photographing users, I recommend Redmi 8 4+64 GB.
