Announced today, the CAT S75 turned out to be not the only premiere that Bullitt Group has prepared for this year's MWC. A few hours after the CAT model, Motorola Defy 2 was announced, equipped - like the aforementioned CAT - with satellite communication.
If you're wondering why Bullitt Group is presenting the Motorola Defy 2, the answer is simple. This is the effect of the cooperation established less than a year ago, under which Motorola lends its logo to smartphones from the Defy series. To make things even more fun, the new Defy 2 has a lot in common with CAT S75. Both smartphones use the same processor - MediaTek Dimensity 930, similar 6+128 GB memory - and have reinforced, waterproof and dustproof housings. They also have similar 6.6-inch LCD displays with Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, as well as similar cameras (50+8+2 Mpx and batteries with a capacity of 5000 mAh, charging at 15 W, and inductively in Qi standard.
Both CAT and Defy 2 can use 5G and satellite connectivity. In the case of the Motorola Defy 2, satellite service prices start at $5 or Euro per month with a limit of 30 messages, or 400 messages for $30 or $30. For now, we know that Motorola Defy 2 will be offered in North and South America in Q2 - and we will be left with the twin CAT S75. For those who want to use satellite connectivity without changing their smartphone, the Motorola Defy Satellite Link device was also presented. It is a rescue "keychain", equipped with a 600 mAh battery, enough for several days, an emergency button and GPS. When the SOS key is pressed, the Motorola Defy Satellite Link will notify a predetermined contact or emergency services by sending the user's position. The equipment is semi- and waterproof, and weighs 70 g. It will be offered for $ 100 with the option of SOS alone, or for $ 150 with a one-year subscription to two-way satellite text communication (when paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth).
