Two new durable and safe models are joining Samsung's military devices range - Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition.
The Tactical Edition series was created in 2012, when Samsung developed the first custom tactical read-only memory, later used in the military edition of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S9. Since then, Samsung has begun to regularly expand its series of smartphones designed for special operations personnel with new models, and has now introduced military variants of two well-known smartphones - the classic flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 and the armored Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
Both devices are optimized for outdoor use - the Galaxy S23 offers IP68 water and dust resistance, the XCover 6 Pro complies with the MIL-STD-810H military standard, which protects it against extreme weather conditions and allows it to be immersed in water for up to a depth of 1.5 meters for half an hour. The touch screen of both smartphones can be operated with gloves, and the night vision mode allows you to use the smartphone with night vision, while turning off its lighting and leaving it invisible. There is also a durable case that allows you to carry the smartphone on your chest or shoulder.
New military smartphones also offer many communication options important for the army - in addition to standard LTE, CBRS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, they have specially designed drivers to support tactical radio protocols, they also allow you to download the GPS signal from external devices and connect with signals from drones and laser rangefinders. The device can also be switched to hidden mode, which turns off all radio communications, including LTE and GPS.
Data on the smartphone is encrypted by the Samsung Knox system, with the DualDAR (Dual Data at Rest) function that protects private data even when the phone is turned off.
The tactical Samsung Galaxy S23 has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, and the tactical Galaxy XCover 6 Pro offers 6+128 GB of memory. Like previous devices in this series, they will be sold only to military operators.
